A Life in the Theater is David Mamet’s caring and hysterical look at what goes on when the curtain goes down in the theater. It turns out that egos and emotions are both bloated and heightened. The show follows the relationship between two actors in a theater troupe – Robert is the older and more experienced performer while John is the immensely talented but green newcomer to both the troupe and the stage. John welcomes the mentoring that he received from the older actor at first but soon begins to resent him as his own talents surpass those of Robert’s.
