Having never seen a production of Gypsy I walked in with no expectations. From the moment the overture started I was in heaven. I have always been a big fan of Boyd Gaines stage work and I loved him as Herbie. Except for The Wedding Singer, I've never seen Laura Benanti in anything. I thought she was perfect. Now to the star of the show. The diva of all divas. Mama Rose herself Miss Patti Lupone. In all my years of seeing shows, I have never seen anyone command the stage like she did. What a powerhouse. Even if you have seen the show Gypsy before, I strongly suggest that you see this production. You will not be disappointed.
