Joe Turner's Come and Gone
Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is a revival of August Wilson’s second play from his series The Pittsburgh Cycle which chronicles different decades of life as experienced by African-Americans. This particular play is set in a boardinghouse in Pittsburgh in 1911. Joe Turner looks into the everyday lives and struggles of the house residents. Although the issues of the time of far more complicated…the play is really more of a “slice of life” depicting everyday life of African-Americans during this time. People searching to find themselves or their place in the world. This is a beautiful show with a superb cast. Riveting performances from the entire cast with standouts from Roger Robinson, Chad Coleman, Marsha Stephanie Blake and Ernie Hudson. If you want to see a powerhouse team of actors in a fascinating play about human struggles then this should be your choice.
