White Christmas returns to Broadway on November 13, 2009
Although I'm in my 50's now, I still look forward to the Christmastime of year. And being from New York City all my life, although we usually have pretty cold weather at this time of year, we don't always have a White Christmas. With this in mind, I must tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed seeing White Christmas on Broadway when it played here last year. The show did so well wowing audiences, and making money of course, that it looks like White Christmas will be coming back each year around this time. So although it sounds kind of corny, it looks like there will be a White Christmas in New York City this year. Well at least the Broadway kind for sure.Since this is an article about the Broadway Show called White Christmas, which was a very poplar show last year (2008), I thought I'd share some useful information with you regarding this years production. Right now you can consider contacting Applause Ticket Agency (License #71AP1001029) and obtaining tickets for this great show at reduced prices for many of its performances. Do bear in mind that during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, discounts are not valid as the show will sell out all their inventory. Still White Christmas on Broadway in conjunction with Applause Ticket Agency will hold great seats for you for this limited engagement of only 64 performances.
White Christmas is based on the wonderful classic film starring Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby as two former army pals who go onto become a very successful nightclub act. They find out that their former commanding officer who runs a little Vermont ski lodge is having troubles of his own and decide to pitch in and help stage a variety show that will help keep the "old man's" business afloat. Of course the two guys are both searching for love in their lives and lots of interesting things begin to happen when the guys meet up with a "sister act" that have plans of their own.
White Christmas on Broadway will have direction from Walter Bobbie with a book written by Paul Blake and David Ives. Randy Skinner provides the choreography with music supervision by Rob Berman. Irving Berlin wrote the music for the show which include many famous classics that you'll recall for sure.
White Christmas has a very talented cast of performers. They include James Clow (Assassins, Company, Blood Brothers), Melisa Errico (she's done lots of Broadway including High Society, Amour and My Fair Lady), Tony Yazbeck (Gypsy), Maria Davi (The Drowsey Chaperone, A Chorus Line), Ruth Williamson (White Christmas, La Cage Aux Folles), Peter Reardon (Urinetown, Passion), Remy Auberjonois (Frost/Nixon), Cliff Bemis (The Drowsey Chaperone, White Christmas), Madeline Rose Yen (Annie Get Your Gun, Peter Pan, Beauty and The Beast)and David Ogden Stiers (from the hit TV series MASH).
Here are some excellent reviews I've come across.
