9 to 5 The Musical is Now Available on CD

I have to tell you that I really enjoyed the music in 9 to 5. Dolly really surprised me! Dolly Parton's Tony Award-nominated score for 9 To 5: The Musical was released on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 by DOLLY RECORDS.

The cast celebrated the big day with a performance and CD signing at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Center, New York City. Iconic singer, songwriter, musician and actress Dolly Parton debuted her new label, DOLLY RECORDS, with the release of "Better Get To Livin'" in September 2007, the first single from 2008's critically acclaimed top 10 CD Backwoods Barbie. The album's current hit single and video is "Backwoods Barbie." The Original Broadway Cast Recording of 9 To 5: The Musical is the label's second release.

Multiple Drama Desk and Tony Award nominated 9 To 5: The Musical stars four-time Emmy Award winner and two-time Tony Award nominee and recent Drama Desk winner Allison Janney, along with Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, and three-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch. It opened Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the Marriott Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway). 9 To 5: The Musical marks the Broadway debut of seven-time Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and musician Dolly Parton as composer and lyricist. With direction by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello(Wicked) and choreography by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler(In the Heights), 9 To 5: The Musical has a book by Patricia Resnick, based on her original story and screenplay for the smash 1980 film comedy 9 To 5 starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly herself. And my personal favorite Dabney Coleman as Mr. Hart! Funny stuff!!

Working 9 to 5, What A Way To Make A Living...

Most of us have had the opportunity to say this at one time or another. For anyone who has ever had to work to make a living you can now see the musical that will make you smile at justice brought about in the workplace.

It is a musical about three female co-workers who pushed to the boiling point, make a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot boss an make changes for the better for everyone in the office.

Sound familiar? Yes, 9 to 5 (the musical) is the same story as the famous movie which starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman(pictured above at the shows premier in LA). This one may not have any of those big stars in it…BUT Dolly Parton did write all of the music. Speaking of its stars, it has a very talented cast of Broadway veterans including Marc Kudisch, Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty. (pictured right)

The show is pure entertainment from the energetic choreography to the colorful costumes that perfectly represent the 70’s to the perfectly bubbling score that Parton has written. For a absolutely charming night of theatre this is the perfect date.

Great seats are available and many performances have seats available for below face value. Call APPLAUSE now to get you 70’s fix and enjoy this delightful show.

9 to 5: The Musical Comes To Broadway

Chances are, you’ve seen it in the movie theatre or on DVD. Now you can see it on Broadway!
9 to 5: The Musical is currently playing at Broadway’s Marquis Theatre. The show, from multiple Grammy Award winner Dolly Parton, Tony Award winning director Joe Mantello and Tony Award winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. The all-new musical comedy features the blockbuster title song plus an exciting new score of 18 original numbers by Dolly Parton herself.
This delightful new hit is a winner that leaves the audience cheering. I loved it!

The Hollywood Reporter is calling it “Wild and witty and greatly entertaining!”-

It has one of the greatest and most memorable lines in motion picture history and that comes from Dolly's character Doralee to her boss Mr. Hart. After him coming on to her she says, "You say one more word about me and I'll get that gun of mine and turn you from a rooster to a hen with one shot!" Classic!

9 to 5: The Musical stars four-time Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Allison Janney as Violet, Stephanie J. Block as Judy, Megan Hilty as Dorelee, and two-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch as Mr. Hart. (Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Parton and Dabney Coleman played the respective roles in the movie.)

Here's the plot: "When pushed to their boiling point by their boss, Franklin Hart Jr. (Marc Kudisch), Violet Newstead (Allison Janney), the super efficient office manager, Judy Bernly (Stephanie J. Block), a frazzled divorcee, and the sexy executive secretary Doralee Rhodes (Megan Hilty) turn the tables on him. The trio hatches a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot, and that plan quickly spins wildly and hilariously out of control."

25 Reasons to See a Broadway Show In The Spring and Summer of 2009

Why pay more than you have to for Broadway theater tickets?

For those of you theater-lovers like me that often see live Broadway theater, I wanted to simply point you to a reliable ticket agency that has access to 27 Broadway Shows. Everyone knows that ticket agencies have to charge a service charge for the service and time they spend seeking out the best prices and seat locations for theater-goers all over the country.

So if a ticket agency buys a ticket for $120.00 then adds a markup, you might pay them $150 to $250 a ticket, depending on the type of seats and service that are provided. Most people seeing several shows like us to do this for them. In addition, the customers appreciate our advice on which shows to see as well.

Our regular customers are familiar with the BELOW FACE VALUE program we have been offering for quite some time now. Simply put, Applause has an inside track on obtaining many shows at below the regular cost on shows that are terrific Broadway Shows but often do not sell out all their inventory. So the theaters offer Applause an insider "discount" price for our customers. We simply add on a small service charge and sell the tickets at fantastic prices to the public. How fantastic are these prices you might ask? After the discount, you will still pay less than you, yourselves can purchase them for.

When you put the discount prices along with friendly Broadway ticket experts that are trustworthy and knowledgeable about how to purchase Broadway tickets at the best prices, I'm sure you'll agree that making a phone call to Applause could have profound benefits for you, your friends and your family.
