Over Six Years And Counting Avenue Q Is Still Going Strong
Never in all my years in New York have I ever seen anything like Avenue Q. The show which beat Wicked for the Tony Award in 2004 for Best Musical enjoyed a six year run on Broadway before moving Off-Broadway last October. Now I know what you are thinking. If the show was so successful why on earth did it move? Even though it had a longer run then most shows usually do they figured that by moving it to a smaller venue they could not only produce it for much less but hopefully ensure that it would be around even longer.Having seen the show several times I can attest to how good it truly is. Not only that but it was also the first Broadway show that my parents had ever seen and they still talk about it over six years later. I guess you could say it made a good impression. Now while the theater maybe different the show is just as funny and relevant as it was back in 2003. Good theatre is good theatre. That will never change. Get your tickets to see Avenue Q. You will have the time of your life. I guarantee it.

New York's Funniest Show Is Still Avenue Q
Since 2003 Avenue Q has been making people of all ages laugh their a***s off. I should know. I've seen the show over a half a dozen times and every time I see it I find my myself laughing as much as I did the time before. The show which beat Wicked to claim the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical was set to close last September after a six year run on Broadway. Well much to the surprise of everybody including the cast the show decided to move to a smaller theatre Off-Broadway to continue it's run. By the way the show first began Off-Broadway before moving to the Great White Way in the Summer of 2003. Who ever heard a show doing that? Either way I am just glad that one of my favorite shows will continue and allow new audiences to experience one of the funniest shows that I have ever seen. Get your tickets to see Avenue Q Off-Broadway. You will not be disappointed.JWB

Avenue Q To Begin Performances This Friday
I know what you're thinking. Didn't Avenue Q close last month? Yes it did. However on the very day that it was to close the producers of the show announced they were moving to a new theatre on October 9. Now over the years several long running shows have moved to other theatres during their run. In fact Chicago has played at three different theatres since it opened in the fall of 1996. However a successful Broadway show as well as a Tony winner for Best Musical moving to an Off-Broadway theatre? According to a statement from the producers' press office,"Research indicates that this transfer is unprecedented, marking the first time that a Broadway musical has, indeed, moved to an Off-Broadway theatre."I personally think this is a smart move. The show while still successful is moving to a theatre with 300 less seats than it's previous one. Hopefully this will ensure a longer life for the show. I hope so. Avenue Q is one of my favorite shows and I am happy that more people will have the chance to see one of the funniest and touching shows to hit New York in years. Go see it if you get the chance. You will love it. I sure did.

Avenue Q Lives On...........Off-Broadway
That's right theatre fans. Avenue Q lives. The show which was scheduled to conclude it's six year run this past Sunday will now continue Off-Broadway at the New World Stages. Performances will begin October 9. The surprising announcement was made following the 7pm performance on September 13. Here is a statement from producer Kevin McCollum."Research indicates that this transfer is unprecedented, marking the first time that a Broadway musical has, indeed, moved to an Off-Broadway theatre.Avenue Q is about all of us, so why should it close? People arrive in New York every day hoping to make their dreams come true, so as long as they're here, we're here! It's just one of the funniest, wittiest and wisest musicals ever written and the more you see it, the more you love it."I for one think it is a brilliant idea. The show still has a large fan base. Plus because the show is now Off-Broadway running cost's will be lower which should ensure a longer longevity for the show. That's good news all around as far as I'm concerned. Long live Avenue Q.
