Last Chances! Spamalot to Close on Broadway in January 2009

Applause Theatre Service has learned that one of my favorite current Broadway shows Monty Python's Spamalot, the 2005 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, will end its reign at Broadway's Shubert Theatre Jan. 18, 2009.
When it closes, the musical will have played a total of 35 previews and 1,582 regular performances.
The New York company currently features Michael Siberry and Merle Dandridge, who play, respectively, King Arthur and Lady of the Lake, with Tom Deckman, Rick Holmes, Bradley Dean, Wally Dunn and David Hibbard. "American Idol" finalist Clay Aiken, who finishes his return engagement Jan. 4, 2009, also stars as Sir Robin.
When Spamalot closes on Broadway, it will have grossed over $175,000,000 and will have been seen by more than two million people. The musical recouped its entire investment in under six months.
Spamalot features a book and lyrics by Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, direction by Mike Nichols, choreography by Casey Nicholaw and is based on the screenplay of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" by Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.
The musical tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest from God for the Holy Grail — with a short stop in the dazzling Spam-filled land of Camelot.
Spamalot earned the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and took home honors for direction (Mike Nichols) and one of its stars (Sara Ramirez).
Spamalot celebrated its third anniversary on Broadway March 18.
On Broadway Spamalot plays Tuesday-Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 and 8 PM and Sunday at 2 and 7 PM.

He's Baaack!! "Idol" Finalist Clay Aiken Return's to Broadway's Spamalot in September!

"American Idol" finalist and new dad Clay Aiken will return to the Broadway company of Monty Python's Spamalot on September 19th.
He will reprise his role of Sir Robin through Jan. 4, 2009.
In a statement Aiken joked, "Since leaving Spamalot in May, jokes have just not been funny. Food has lost its taste. The grass is no longer green — the sky no longer blue. And, babies won't stop crying!! I'm so excited about coming back to the funniest show in the world!"

I have to agree that this show is one of the funniest show's that I've ever seen and a must see for those who need a good laugh, and don't we all nowadays!

Save This Spring On Spamalot

If killer rabbits and men in tights wasn't enough to get you in the door then maybe what you are looking for is a musical comedy starring an International Superstar. That's right "Claymates"Monty Python's Spamalot now features American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken as Sir Robin. In recent years Broadway has become a haven for American Idol contestants strutting their stuff on a Broadway stage. Now some might argue that the producers of these shows only cast them in the hope that their name might translate into big dollars. And they would be right. But we all know all the fame in the world doesn't mean a thing if you don't deliver. I am happy to say that having seen most of these guys and gals in their respective shows that they have the goods. Not only that but it brings a whole new audience to the theatre that normally might never attend. And isn't that what it's all about? Plus if you call Applause now we can get you tickets to the funniest show on Broadway at an incredible savings. So whether you're a fan of Clay's or just a Monty Python fanatic see the show. You will laugh till you cry. I know I did.
