You Need to See "9 to 5 the Musical" on Broadway and Help it Stick Around for Awhile!

I'm saddened with all these blogs and rumors saying that if Dolly Parton's "9 to 5 the Musical" doesn't start selling well, it may be gone by Labor Day! It unfortunately has been on a steady decline in sales and that's not good for a new musical. I think it's wonderful and has a great cast with great songs! It's really a first rate production!

Rumor has it that "White Christmas", which is returning this lucrative holiday season and played the Marquis where 9 to 5 currently resides last season, is looking to get back in there come November! Also the new musical "Catch Me if You Can" now playing in Seattle is looking to play there this Spring after White Christmas!

I say no! Find other theaters!! This show is pleasing audiences nightly and word of mouth should help this show stick around for awhile. Support it, go see it! You have a great time!

Hate Your Boss? Then You Must See 9 To 5 The Musical

For those of you who have ever wanted to stick it to your boss then have I got the show for you. I am talking about 9 to 5 The Musical. This funny and entertaining new musical is based on the hit 1980 film which starred Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Dolly Parton who incidentally wrote the score for the show. Now to be honest the critics were not kind to the show. Who cares? Wicked didn't get very good reviews either and it is still the most popular show on Broadway. Oh and by the way 9 to 5 grossed almost $700,000 last week. Take that critics. So if you are looking for a show that will make you laugh and forget about that annoying boss of yours then get yourself down to the Marquis Theatre to see 9 to 5 on Broadway. It may not give you the same satisfaction as strangling your boss but at least you'll still have your job at the end of the day.

Working 9 to 5, What A Way To Make A Living...

Most of us have had the opportunity to say this at one time or another. For anyone who has ever had to work to make a living you can now see the musical that will make you smile at justice brought about in the workplace.

It is a musical about three female co-workers who pushed to the boiling point, make a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot boss an make changes for the better for everyone in the office.

Sound familiar? Yes, 9 to 5 (the musical) is the same story as the famous movie which starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman(pictured above at the shows premier in LA). This one may not have any of those big stars in it…BUT Dolly Parton did write all of the music. Speaking of its stars, it has a very talented cast of Broadway veterans including Marc Kudisch, Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty. (pictured right)

The show is pure entertainment from the energetic choreography to the colorful costumes that perfectly represent the 70’s to the perfectly bubbling score that Parton has written. For a absolutely charming night of theatre this is the perfect date.

9 To 5 The Musical Is A Laugh Riot

Forget what the critics say. 9 to 5 The Musical is a lot of fun. I loved it.Is it one of those shows that will change your life? Probably not. Who cares. Every once in a while it is nice to go to show and just laugh and have a good time. After all isn't that what theatre is supposed to be about. Now don't get me wrong. I love serious shows like Next To Normal and Hair. They belong on Broadway just as much as the silly shows like Shrek and Avenue Q. That's what makes Broadway great. There is something for everybody. So if you are looking for a fun night in the theatre than I strongly suggest you get your tickets to see 9 to 5 The Musical on Broadway. I mean a show with a score by Dolly Parton can't be all bad right?
