Welcome To The 60's-Hair Rocks Broadway
What? You still haven't seen Hair yet? Well get moving people. The show is fantastic. This new revival marks the first time the show has been on Broadway since the 1977 Broadway revival. The show which opened to rave reviews won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. Prior to seeing the show I had never seen a production nor the 1979 film. I loved the show and if you get the chance to see it during your next trip to New York you should. It is one of the best shows running on Broadway. Call Applause now to get you tickets to see Hair on Broadway. It is a show for the ages.Breaking News.....................................
It was just announced that Hair has recouped it's entire investment as of August 7.
Congratulations!

Go See "Hair" on Broadway ASAP!!!
"Hair" is the only show currently on Broadway
that feels like an experience. The cast (The Tribe) is excellent, the production is fantastic and the songs sound better then ever. The shows themes (Sex, War, Drugs, Race) are as relevant today as they were forty years ago. The best part is the sense of community that the Tribe forms with the audience. It resonated with me long after I left the theatre. I encourage all theatergoers to purchase their tickets ASAP. I also encourage them to take part in the show and the finale. I guarantee, that no one will regret being a part of the Hair experience.Call an Applause Sales Expert now at 800-451-9930 and order tickets to this hot show. I'm certain it will be nominated for many Tony's and will win for Best Revival of a Musical. Once that happens, good luck getting tickets! Call Now!

Critics Rave about the New Musical Revival of "Hair"!!!!
To quote Britney Spears, Oops, I did it again! If you read my blog 2 weeks ago reviewing the new
revival of "Hair", you know how I said that the critics are gonna go gaga over this show. I sure did and they were unanimously in agreement. This thing totally took me off guard! I loved it! I pretty much nailed the last 4 openings on Broadway, which tells me that I may be in the wrong profession(just kidding, I love working for Applause, how else would I be able to see all of these incredible shows). This show is going to stick around Broadway for a long time to come. You must hurry to get your tickets to see this glorious production.Here is a complete list of all the critics reviews so that you can read for yourself how well received this show was;

It's "Hair." It's here. Get used to it. "Hair," which opened indoors at Broadway prices last night after a smash last summer, free in Central Park, has settled its sweet, raucous and powerful self into the Hirschfeld Theatre for what deserves to be a very long time.

What Broadway desperately needs is a new Hair, not a new production of the old one: something
that will identify today's youth, with its fears and its loves and its music, to the mainstream and encourage a more complex understanding of where they're taking the world. That would be a far richer tribute to this work's lasting legacy than this accomplished, enticing, and thoroughly meaningless revival.[ BG ] Innocence, spontaneity lost in 'Hair' revival By Louise Kennedy
The bad puns almost write themselves. It's too long. It's dull. It's flat. It has lost its shine.Oh, I give up. I just watched "Hair" and I can't do a thing with it.

Revival of "Hair" is Amazing!
What a fabulous night at the theatre. "Hair" the musical is certainly the most
fun I've had at any show this season! Where did it come from? I mean no one, I don't think, expects this show to succeed. After seeing the show last night at the Al Hirschfeld theatre, I think it's going to be the big hit of the season both critically and at the box office. The audience went nuts! Everyone thought that this years Tony for Best Revival would go to either Guys and Dolls(terrible reviews) or West Side Story(which opens tonight and I don't think the critics will be very kind, I was disappointed), but my feeling is that "Hair" will easily win Best Revival and hopefully the director will win as well. This show is not easy to stage and she does so brilliantly and uses every inch of the theatre to its maximum potential.
Everything from the amazing lighting, incredible sound and band on stage to the unbelievable cast. I went into the show having never seen a production of it nor have I seen the movie. I knew a few of the great songs of course, but I wasn't expecting much from it. Boy was I wrong. I couldn't take the smile off my face and I was rockin and rollin in my seat. I even got a hug from one of the hippie girls. Without giving anything away, this show has th
e audience up and dancing at the end and no one wanted to leave the theater! I left on a high without using the drugs! There is some strong language and sexual content(including some full frontal nudity at the end of the first act), but it's done tastefully and I think its fine for mature teens.Believe me when I say, you'll have a blast at this high energy show! DO NOT wait to get your tickets to this show. Because after it opens to great reviews and word of mouth spreads, you may be in for a long wait for tickets. Get them now, trust me. McCann and The Public Come to Agreement, HAIR in 'Very Healthy Shape'
The New York Times is reporting the positive news that the leaders of New York's Public Theater announced today, Thursday January 29th, that they have signed an agreement with the Broadway producer Elizabeth I. McCann that avoids legal action, threatened by Ms. McCann, over the upcoming transfer of the musical "Hair," which is scheduled to begin rehearsals on Friday.
The Times explains that "Ms. McCann was originally, with the Public, the lead producer of the show, which was a hit last summer in Central Park, but the Public moved her aside last month when she could not raise the money for its initial $6.5 million capitalization. Ms. McCann had suggested that she might sue, but Oskar Eustis, artistic director of the Public, said on Thursday that the theater and Ms. McCann had signed an agreement keeping her "as an above-the-title" producer. "The acrimony is completely behind us - there will be no lawsuits," Mr. Eustis said to the Times.
"We're in very healthy shape with more than $5 million in firm money, and we'll end up turning prospective producers away," Mr. Eustis said.

HAIR will begin preview performances on Friday, March 6, with Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 31, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, New York City). Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel, the producing team that helped bring the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening to Broadway, have joined forces with The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew Hamingson) - as co-lead producers - to present the upcoming Broadway production.
The production will reunite most of the creative team of last summer's staging at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park: director Diane Paulus, set designer Scott Pask, costume designer Michael McDonald to design the lighting for the Broadway production.
Recently cited on more than 25 10-BEST-OF-THE-YEAR THEATER lists, including The New York Times, New York Magazine, Newsday, Time Out New York, and TIME Magazine, HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot.

More Broadway News from Applause Theatre Service on the Upcoming "Hair" Revival
I don't know whether or not this is great casting but Tony Award
nominee Gavin Creel will star as Claude in the upcoming Broadway revival of the tribal love rock musical Hair, which is scheduled to begin performances March 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Creel will star in the role originated by Spring Awakening Tony nominee Jonathan Groff in the Public Theater's recent Central Park engagement of Hair. It's ashame Groff couldn't bring it to Broadway, from what I heard, not seeing it in Central Park, he was pretty darn terrific. I saw Creel in the last revival of La Cage Aux Folles and was not overly impressed but we shall see. Also big news from the show's casting front, Wicked's Eden Espinosa, who was previously announced to portray Sheila in the Broadway revival, has withdrawn from Hair "for personal reasons."
Additional casting for the revival will be announced shortly.
"With a score including such enduring musical numbers as 'Let the Sun Shine In,' 'Aquarius,'
'Hair' and 'Good Morning Starshine,' Hair depicts the birth of a cultural movement in the 60's and 70's that changed America forever: the musical follows a group of hopeful, free-spirited young people who advocate a lifestyle of pacifism and free-love in a society riddled with intolerance and brutality during the Vietnam War. As they explore sexual identity, challenge racism, experiment with drugs and burn draft cards, the 'tribe' in Hair creates an irresistible message of hope, peace and change that continues to resonate with audiences 40 years later," state press notes for the Broadway revival.Gavin Creel recently concluded performances in the London run of Mary Poppins in the role of cockney chimney sweep Bert.
Hair will play the following performance schedule: Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 2 PM and 8 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM and 7:30 PM.
