If you haven't see Rock of Ages yet then I have just one thing to say to you. What are you waiting for people? Besides being one of Broadway's most popular shows it is by far one of the most enjoyable nights you will ever spend in the theatre. I first saw the show Off-Broadway in the fall of 2008 and thought it was a blast.When they announced plans to move it to Broadway I will admit I wasn't sure how it would do. To me it was in the perfect space. Now here we are almost a year into it's run and it is selling like crazy. I guess I worried for nothing. Now for those of you who haven't seen the show I highly recommend it next time you visit our fair city.Get your tickets to see Rock of Ages on Broadway. The party never ends.

Rock Out The Winter Blues With Rock Of Ages
Still haven't seen Broadway's guiltiest pleasure? No I'm not talking about Mary Poppins. I'm talking about Rock of Ages. Not only have I seen it three times but if I had to recommend one show to see while you're in New York than this would be the one. Now for you traditional theatregoers out there who prefer shows like Billy Elliot or South Pacific then Rock of Ages probably isn't for you. Maybe I'm wrong. What I love about the show besides being a whole lot of fun is that it is bringing people to the theatre that normally wouldn't attend a Broadway show in the first place.Who knows maybe after they see Rock of Ages it will make them want to see something else. Look anyway we can get more people to come to New York and support the theatre the better it is for everybody. So whether it's Rock of Ages or any other show don't forget to see a show while you're here. Live theatre. There is nothing like it.JWB

Rock Out To Rock Of Ages
Now I'll be the first to admit that Rock of Ages is not for everybody. Those of you who enjoy a more traditional musical like South Pacific or A Little Night Music probably won't like it. My boss who loves almost everything found it to be a little too campy for his tastes. Well it is. There's no denying that. In my opinion that's what it makes it so much fun and unique. Not only that but I can personally guarantee you there is nothing else like it on Broadway. That's a fact. Now if you love the music of the 80's as much as I do then Rock of Ages is the show for you. What I love most about the show is that besides being a blast is that it is attracting a whole new audience that would probably never go to a Broadway show. Who knows maybe by seeing a show like Rock of Ages they will see that theatre can be fun,and they will come back and see something else in the future. Now that is we need. More people supporting theatre. Without the audience we would not survive. Not only that but I would be out of a job. Now you don't want to see that happen do you?JWB

Rock Out To Rock Of Ages
Being a huge fan of 80's music I was so excited that somebody was doing a show featuring some of my favorite songs of all time. I take that back. When Rock of Ages was first announced in the Summer of 2008 I was intrigued but skeptical. You see jukebox musicals are not really my thing. Although I did love Jersey Boys. I first saw Rock of Ages Off-Broadway in October 2008. Not only was I pleasantly surprised that I liked it so much but if I had to recommend one show to see while your here then this is the one. Now I'll admit if you are the type that loves traditional musical theatre than you might not like it. Maybe I'm wrong. I have an idea. Why don't you check it out and decide for yourself. Who knows? Broadway Rocks Out-Rock of Ages Is A Hit
Never in my wildest dreams did I think a show featuring some of my favorite songs from the 80's would turn out to be one of this years biggest success stories. Since it opened to rave reviews this past Spring Rock of Ages has been selling at almost full capacity every week. Not bad for a show that most people thought would never make it on the Great White Way. Myself included. Now while I loved the show when I first saw it Off-Broadway I wasn't sure if Broadway audiences would go for it. Well they have. Not only that but the show is attracting people that might have never gone to a Broadway show in the first place. Never underestimate the power that great music has over people. "If you sing it. That's right all you head banging fans from the 1980's. Do I have a show for you. It's called Rock of Ages and it is one of the coolest and sexiest shows running on Broadway today. The show which features over twenty-four of the best songs from the 80's is an awesome show that will entertain you from beginning to end. Rock of Ages currently stars former American Idol contestant and Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis. If you are looking for a great night in the theater than this is the show for you. Broadway "Rocks Out"-Rock Of Ages Is A Hit!
Who would have thought that a musical featuring a bunch of classic 80's rock songs starring an American Idol finalist would be a big Broadway hit? I tell you who. Me. I first saw Rock of Ages Off-Broadway and told my friend that if this show moves to Broadway then it would not only sell but would be the sleeper hit of the 2008-2009 Broadway Season. I am proud to say that not only was I right but it has done ever better than I or the producers of the show could have ever imagined. The show which garnered five 2009 Tony nominations including Best Musical has been selling at over 90% since it opened this past Spring. Not bad for a show nobody thought would even make it Off-Broadway. What I love most about this show besides the awesome music is that it is attracting crowds that might not normally come to a Broadway show. We need more of that. If not Broadway might cease to exist someday. O.K. I'm probably getting a little over dramatic but theatre is important. We need to support theatre at all costs.Let's face it. Without theatre the world would be a pretty boring place. Without theatre there would be one less happy person in the world. Me.JWB

Tony Nominne Constantine Maroulis Extends Thru Summer 2010
Now that is what I call great news. It was just announced that American Idol finalist and Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis has agreed to extend his contract as wannabe rocker Drew in the Tony nominated Rock of Ages. Rock Of Ages Redefines Broadway
Now before everybody gets on my case about the title of my blog I should probably explain myself. Look I know Rock of Ages is a Broadway show. Duh. What I mean is that the show itself is not your typical show nor is the audience that it caters too. People who have never seen a Broadway show have been flocking to the the theatre ever since the show first opened this past Spring. That is what makes the show so different and unique. Rock of Ages is a celebration of the 80's and all it's grittiness's. It's sexy and raunchy and allows you to have fun and let go of all your inhibitions.(It's a good thing they serve alcohol during the show to help you along)Is the show good for young kids? Probably not but why are you taking your kids in the first place? Enjoy a night out on the town for once. Remember what is was like to have fun and let your hair down. I cannot wait until my shift at work is over today. No it's not what you think. I love my job. It's just that I am counting the minutes until I can clock out and head over to Best Buy to get my copy of Rock of Ages. The show which was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical is without a doubt one of my favorite shows on Broadway. I've seen it several times and will no doubt see it many more times in the future. But until then I will just enjoy the music of the 80's sung by the talented cast of Rock of Ages. Rock of Ages,the new show that has turned Broadway on it's ear is my pick for show of the year. Now I know some people may disagree with that but I don't care. I loved it. In fact I just saw it again a couple of weeks ago for the third time. Sure it can be a little raunchy at times and immature but I think it's time that Broadway stops taking itself so seriously and have a little fun once in awhile. Rock Of Ages Opens Tonight On Broadway
80's Rock fans rejoice. The critically acclaimed show Rock of Ages will make it's Broadway bow at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre tonight following a highly successful run last year Off-Broadway. Having seen the show Off-Broadway I was worried that taking a show that worked so well in a intimate space might be a bad idea. I'm happy to say that I was wrong. From the moment it started it was just like I remembered it. Great story, classic songs, and an amazing cast that gave 110% every time they were on stage. I loved it. I know you will too.JWB

Rock Out To Rock of Ages Thru Applause
I have to tell you how happy I am that Rock of Ages is moving into a Broadway theatre March 17th after a very successful run Off-Broadway.
This show transported me back to my younger years. Rock of Ages has all the hits from Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar and many others.
Taking place in 1987 on The Sundset Strip in LA's most famous rock club, it tells the story of a small town girl that meets a big city rocker and how they fall in love.
Although intended for mature audiences (14+), I took my 8 1/2 year old daughter who loved it as much as I did. ( I did have to remind her that what happens in the theatre stays in the theatre).

Rock of Ages Tickets on Broadway are On Sale Now
I had loads of fun when I first saw Rock of Ages in an Off Broadway theater some months ago. I am happy to see that the show will move to Broadway and play the Brooks Atkinson Theater starting with performances on March 17, 2009.Rock of Ages is a "rock musical" that takes place in Hollywood in the mid 1980's. The story is cute, about a small town girl meeting a big city rock star at L.A.s most famous rock n' roll club. The two fall in love to the "hit songs of the 80's". How cute is that?
Rock of Ages features music that of many of us grew up with- Bon Jovi, Journey, Styx, Pat Benetar, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and several others. I couldn't believe how I knew most of the songs and look forward to seeing Rock of Ages again in the next week or two.
Chris D'Arienzo wrote the musical and Kristin Haggi is the director of Rock of Ages. Choreography is by Kelly Devine. Rock of Ages starring actors are Constantine Maroulis, Amy Spanger and James Carpinello with an energetic and extremely talented supporting ensemble.

Cast Announced For Broadway Run Of Rock Of Ages
Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming Broadway production of Rock of Ages, which will begin previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre March 17. Following an acclaimed run at Off-Broadway's New World Stages, the eighties-scored musical will officially open on Broadway April 7. The cast will be headed by "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis (The Wedding Singer), who will reprise the role of Drew that he performed Off-Broadway. He will be joined for the Broadway run by Amy Spanger (The Wedding Singer; Kiss Me, Kate) as Sherrie and James Carpinello (Saturday Night Fever, VH1's "So NoTORIous") as Stacee Jaxx.
I can't tell you how much I loved this show. Being a huge 80's fan I constantly found myself singing along with all the songs during the show. Everybody in the cast was top notch. If you haven't seen it yet then I highly recommend that you do. You will have the time of your life. I sure did.

"Grease" closing at the Brooks Atkinson and "Rock of Ages" Ready to Move In!!
The current home of the "Grease" revival which
closes January 4th at the Brooks Atkinson, will now be called home to the Hit Off-Broadway show "Rock of Ages" which closes at its current home the New World Stages also on January 4th. Previews at the Atkinson will begin March 20, 2009, with an official opening scheduled for April 7. This is great news for a cast that's deserving of a Broadway run. It's already opened to great reviews and we all loved it here at Applause Theatre Service. This show is an absolute blast!Rock of Ages, press notes state, "is an explosive new musical with a heart as big as 80's rock hair. As a legendary rock club faces its demise at the hands of eager developers, a young rocker hoping for his big break falls for a small town girl chasing big dreams of her own."
The musical features hits from such rockers as Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia and Whitesnake.
In a joint statement Rock of Ages producers Matthew Weaver and Carl Levin said, "After such an exciting run Off-Broadway, we are delighted to be moving Rock of Ages to Broadway. We know these are difficult and uncertain times for everyone, so we are thrilled to announce that Rock of Ages will set a new precedent with the lowest priced tickets on Broadway for any Musical.
The Off-Broadway company boasts "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis. Whether on not he will remain with the show is still not certain.
New Line recently won the screen rights for Rock of Ages. Librettist D'Arienzo will not only pen the screenplay but will direct the feature film as well.
Show times on Broadway will be Monday at 8 PM, Tuesday at 7 PM, Thursday at 8 PM, Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 and 8 PM and Sunday at 3 and 7 PM.
Tickets for the Broadway production will go on sale Jan. 5, 2009 and can be purchased by calling an Applause Sales Expert at 800-451-9930.
