Broadway Tickets For Less

Let's be honest. Most people that come to New York are probably going to see a show while they're here. Why not? New York is home to some of the greatest plays and musicals ever written after all. So now that you have decided to see a show that next thing is to figure out how much it is going to cost. Yes we all know that going to the theatre can be expensive. The good thing is it doesn't have to be. Right now there are over fifteen Broadway shows that you can see at prices that are at below face value. Broadway tickets for below face value? I must be mad. It's true. All you have to do is give us a call and mention our "Same Day Ticket Offer" and we will take care of the rest. It's that easy.

Cirque Du Soleil To Return To The Big Apple

Every one's favorite wacky performance artists are back and New York has got them. I am talking of course about Cirque Du Soleil. For those of you who have seen their work in the past you know that not only are you getting your money's worth but you are witnessing one of the most spectacular and unique events you will ever see. This new show entitled Banana Shpeel draws it's inspiration from the vaudeville shows of old. It's part comedy, part dance, and one hundred percent entertainment. Here is a brief synopsis of the show according to a production source.

"Propelled by crazy humor and intense choreography, Banana Shpeel plunges us into the world of Schmelky, a brash, ambitious producer who is trying to put together a spectacular variety show. His world is populated with sidekicks, dancers, singers and novelty acts - and a trio of badly-behaved clowns who crash the auditions spreading chaos in all directions."

Get your tickets to see Banna Shpeel live in New York City. Be advised that the show is a limited engagement, and runs through May 30, 2010 so don't delay.

January Slump

Last week I posted a blog stating that during the last week of December eleven shows grossed over a million dollars with Wicked hitting the two million mark. Well last week as expected saw a dip in almost all of the shows on Broadway. No surprise. It happens every year around this time. In fact more shows close in January and February then any other time of the year. With those being two of the slowest months some shows simply can't survive. It's sad I know. However there is good news ahead. Between now and the end of April twenty-one new shows are set to open. Looks like we are in for a busy Spring folks. One other silver lining to mention is that during these slow Winter months you can get tickets to some of your favorite shows at prices that are much less then any other time of the year. Now that is something to smile about. Don't forget to ask for our "Insider Deal" when you call and we will take care of the rest. It doesn't get and easier than that.

Customer Story

This week's story comes from a regular customer of mine from Short Hills, NJ who comes into the city two or three times a year to catch up on the latest shows and do some shopping. Since she first started using our service back in 2005 she has bought tickets for fourteen different shows. I guess you could say she likes the theatre. Earlier this week she called looking for tickets to see Wishful Drinking on Broadway. For those of you who haven't seen it,it is a one-woman show written by and starring Carrie Fisher. It is a riot. She wanted to get tickets for next week that were a good view but not too expensive. Well not only did I get her great seats but I got them well below face value. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

That's right folk's. It's Monday morning and you know what that means. It's time for the customer story of the week. Last week I got a call from a mother of two who was coming with her family to New York for the weekend and wondered if she could get some last minute tickets to a couple of shows. I asked her if there were any she had in mind and she told me that she wanted something fun that the whole family could enjoy. Since she had kids I suggested Shrek or one of the Disney shows. While she appreciated the suggestion she felt that her kids were too old for that. She mentioned that a friend of hers had seen Blue Man Group and thought that her family would enjoy that. I told her that I could get her great seats to the show and asked if she had another show in mind as well. Since she hadn't seen a lot of shows she asked what my favorite was. Well those who read my blogs know my favorite show is In The Heights. I told her about it and she thought it sounded great. Not only that but I was able to get her and insider deal as well. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Applause And The New York Pass

Let's be honest. Most people that call to order tickets are calling from another state or in some cases another country. They call Applause because they are looking to get good seats and hopefully at some great prices. In the past couple of years we have seen an increase in our consumer sales. In fact a lot of those customers call us because they found us in something called the New York Pass book. Being a New Yorker I never knew this existed until a few years ago when someone came to our office because they read that by going thru Applause they could get a 10% discount on theatre tickets. Sounds good right?

The other day I received a call from a young lady in Australia who found our number in the book and wanted to see if she could get discount seats to see The Lion King. I mentioned to her that while I could get her seats to the show there were other shows that I could get for a better deal as The Lion King is one of the shows that doesn't offer a substantial discount. Being on a budget she was appreciative that I could give her another option. I asked what she had seen an she said that it was her first trip to New York and she wanted to get the whole "Broadway Experience". I told her the most popular shows were Wicked and Jersey Boys but she had said that she had seen them in Australia so she wanted something that was exclusive to New York. I suggested Hair and In The Heights which not only are they exclusive to New York but are two exciting and moving shows.

I told her while I loved both of them I was partial to In The Heights. Those of you who read my blogs know that I am a fan. I told her about the show and she said it sounded fun but then she mentioned that her father had seen the original production of Hair when he visited New York over forty years ago and loved it. She was torn on what to see. I told her that if she wanted to see both shows that I would be able to get her and her friend good seats but below face value. Well that sealed the deal. I found her the date that would have the best price for the best seats and well the rest is history. Maybe I'll have to try the New York Pass myself. Hey I may be a New Yorker but a bargain is a bargain.

Customer Satisfaction At Applause

On a daily basis I probably speak to between 40-50 people. Some buy. Some don't. My boss Rich Gladstone AKA The Ticket man always says, "That most people don't buy on on the first call. People like to shop around. The thing is if you provide them with excellent service nine times out of ten they will call back." The truth is you're not going to sell to everybody. Most people that call are looking for great seats, to one of the hot shows, and at a discount. Now look we all know you're not going to get tickets to see Wicked on a Saturday night on a discount. However that doesn't mean you have to mortgage your house to see the show either. Sure you can wait in line for two hours at TKTS and hope that your show is there or you can give us a call and let us help make your ticket buying experience a great one. That's what we do after all.

WANT TO SEE A HOT SHOW TONIGHT

Steve called up this morning on his cell phone. He had seen our website on his iPhone. He said he would like to see Wicked tonight but he wants great seats. Rich, The Ticketman, told him that the show was sold out but to give him a little time. Rich called him back and gave him H2 and H4 side section on the center aisle 13th row. To be honest Applause is probably successful over 90% of the time in getting you seats at the last minute. Normally the face value of H2 & 4 is $300 per ticket. They are premium seats. However, since it was the day of the show Applause was able to provide the seats for $166. Another satisfied customer. Please keep Applause in mind no matter how close to the performance. Our staff will do its best to please you. Remember all the gadgets of today make access more readily available.

OVERWHELMED BUYING TICKETS

The Internet is a wonderful thing. Do you remember all the trips to a Library when you had a project to do. Now you have everything at your fingertips. However, that is the problem. You have EVERYTHING. For most of us Broadway shows are special events. The price of tickets and the cost of a visit to New York City are such that we tend to limit our visits to the theatre. However, we want to make sure that the decisions we make are the correct decision.

Applause has been in business for almost 22 years. You don't stay in business that long unless you have an impeccable reputation. Applause has had its rough times. The two most difficult times were September 11 and the present recession. I don't mean to diminish September 11 to a business thing. In fact three employees of Applause had close relatives perish in that tragedy. The reputation of Applause has allowed us to survive and we offer this reputation to you to assist you in choosing the shows you wish to see at the best price.

Many times the staff of Applause has performed a valuable service to our customers in helping them choose a show. We had a Baptist minister that wanted to bring a group from his Church to see Angels in America. I think he was quite grateful when we explained the story line to him. Telling a father that he might be embarrassed taking his 12 year old daughter to see Miss Saigon. Many times we will have parent say that my daughter is very mature and go ahead and take them anyway. However, we feel we are doing our duty.

Applause's staff knows most of the theatres by heart. They give advice on which seats to take. The pros and cons. We had a grandmother taking her 6 grandchildren to Mary Poppins. I advised her to take the front mezzanine side seats. She called back to tell me how thrilled the children were when Mary Poppins left the stage and flew right on top of the children. She told me that she was hesitant to take my advice but we had been recommended by her best friend/Maid of Honor from 44 years ago. She said how glad she was she followed our advice. I have to tell you a funny anecdote. A customer called for the first time to ask when the Radio City Christmas Tree would be lighted. She said do y'all know when they light the Christmas tree. Liz who is from Brooklyn said please hold on and I will check. The customer said. I am sorry do "youse guys" know when they light the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. She felt she had to translate for us New Yorkers. That reminds me that another client told us that they can't believe we are located in New York City. You are all so friendly and helpful.

Applause would like to ask you to take advantage of our expertise and knowledge and equally important our BFV(BELOW FACE VALUE) policy wherever and whenever possible. Let us assist you in your journey through the Internet in choosing a show and make sure that your experience is a happy one.

Customer Story

Yesterday I received a call from a very nice lady who was making a last minute trip to New York and wanted to see a couple of shows. Her first choice was Billy Elliot which she had been dying to see ever since she saw a clip on the Tony Awards last month. Her second show was Jersey Boys which she had seen on two prior occasions but wanted to take her husband who had never seen it. The Billy Elliot tickets we had in stock so I sold her two very nice seats in the Rear Mezzanine. Now when most people here the word Rear Mezzanine their usual reaction is,"Oh I can't sit in the nosebleed. I won't be able to see anything." Believe it or not Broadway has the smallest theatres anywhere in the country. Anyway back to the customer. She was thrilled with the seats and even better she was excited to get them at a great price. After taking care of Billy Elliot is was time to work on getting her good seats for Jersey Boys. There was only one problem. All they had left for the Wednesday matinee was Partial View. Guess what? She didn't care. As I said she had already seen the show twice and was just so happy to see it again and treat her husband that she took them. Just to let you know partial view for Jersey Boys are not bad. In fact partial view for most shows are not that bad either. Plus you pay less for those seats. So you see it's a win-win situation. She got to see both shows and save a little money too. Another satisfied customer at Applause. Maybe you'll be next.

Applause Theater Service & its Broadway Customers Are Happy Customers Now

Let me explain the 3 main reasons why consumers shopping for Broadway Show tickets in New York City are happy customers of the theater these days. It's simple really:

1. Applause's friendly and expert service is 2nd to none.
2. Applause is one of the few licensed New York State ticket companies with over 21 years of experience (New York State license #71AP1001029).
3.Applause offers the very best prices-simply shop around and see for yourself.

An example of one of Applause's customer service stories that I'm speaking of is when I spoke to a new Applause caller today. Her name is Anne Smith from upstate New York. Anne asked me for tickets to see Hair The Musical for a Saturday evening in July. When I quoted her the Applause retail price, along with the seat locations (which were very nice in the orchestra section), she seemed pleased. Right after this I mentioned that if she was flexible in her schedule, that I could obtain seats for her at a savings of over $60.00 a ticket for the same very good seating placement in the theater (except she'd need to attend the 2pm matinee). Although she was about to purchase the evening tickets at a higher price, she asked me if I was certain that I could get the same selection of seating for the "discounted" performance of Hair The Musical. When I assured her that she would get really good seats, she went ahead and made a purchase.

I know what some people might be thinking at this point, something like "what's the catch"? To make a long a long story short, we secured excellent center orchestra seats for Anne and put them in the mail to her this afternoon. Needless to say, we have a new, and very happy Applause Theater Service customer.

There are hundreds of online and some brick and mortar companies that sell tickets these days all over the country. I have been in the ticket selling business for 31 years myself. Although lots of change has occurred in my career, I really believe that shoppers and customers that are looking for the best value when buying Broadway tickets, might not really know where to shop.

So they go to Google, Yahoo, MSN or an online shopping service and type in the Broadway Show they are interested in seeing. Then they get a list of 10 or more different companies to search out. After a while, the differences are hard to tell, aren't they. The seat numbers and prices all start to blend and look alike.

At our small, friendly Broadway ticket company in New York City, we like to talk to potential Broadway theater-goers first, offer good information with expert advice on where to consider sitting in the theater and what possible "discount offerings" some of the shows have. Our Below Face Value ticket deal (becoming well known as BFV) now offers nearly 20 shows at an extreme discount.

We hope you'll consider calling our ticket service when your plans include a trip to the Broadway theater. I know our new customer Anne Smith is happy she did.

Rich Gladstone

SOME ONE HAS TO PAY FOR THE ADVERTISING

Last week the Early Show on the CBS networks discussed the most expensive shows on Broadway. They were talking about the secondary broker market. As you know we are in a marketing campaign to show our customers how we are able to sell tickets for most Broadway shows at a cost below the face value of the ticket. I just wanted to point out that even when we are unable to provide tickets below face value because of their great popularity and scarcity we are still almost half the price of the major competition.

All of us, no matter our economic level, are looking to be as careful as possible in spending money. It has always been a joke in the office that I would not buy coffee from Starbuck's. (I am the President of Applause) However, it is amazing how many of the gang at Applause have moved on to more economic lattes and have left Starbuck's behind.

Please make sure you compare our prices with any other offer you might receive. In addition to excellent service, you will also receive an excellent price.

Applause Theatre Service Celebrates Avenue Q's Fifth Birthday on Broadway July 31

The puppet-friendly musical "Avenue Q" recently celebrated another milestone when it played its 2,000th performance on Broadway June 3. This zany half crazed musical is now the 25th longest-running production in Broadway history, now in it's Fifth year on Broadway, it has now surpassed the original runs of South Pacific (1,925) and Pippin (1,944).
I have to tell you that I hadn't yet seen this show when the Tony Awards were announced the year this show opened, which so happened to be the same year one of my favorite musicals of all time opened, "Wicked". Needless to say I was not happy that my show lost out on the Best Musical Tony to this little show that could. So off to the theatre I went to see what all the hubbub was about and I have to say that I laughed myself silly! We had a ball! What a surprise! And now it's no surprise to me that this show is still packing them in nightly at the John Golden Theatre.
If you're not sure that this is the show for you(Definitely for Mature Audiences only!), then take advantage of the Applause Insider Deal for some big savings and take a chance at seeing a show I am sure you're going to Love! Call one of the Sales Experts here at Applause Theatre Service including myself, just ask for Erik, and mention the deal, it's so fast and easy. Call us at 800-451-9930 or 212-307-7050. Never a machine or wait! We're Live and waiting to take care of you!

Tony Award Winner Curtains Set To Close On June 29

Curtains, the musical comedy whodunit from composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb, and writers Peter Stone and Rupert Holmes, will play its final performance on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on June 29 at 3 PM.

The musical Curtains stars 2007 Tony Award winner and four-time Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce as Lieutenant Frank Cioffi and Tony and Emmy Award winner Debra Monk as producer Carmen Bernstein. According to the shows press release Curtains "unfolds backstage at Boston's Colonial Theatre in 1959, where a new musical could be a Broadway smash, were it not for the presence of its talent-free leading lady. When the hapless star dies on opening night during her curtain call, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi (David Hyde Pierce) arrives on the scene to conduct an investigation. But the lure of the theatre proves irresistible and after an unexpected romance blooms for the stage-struck detective, he finds himself just as drawn toward making the show a hit, as he is in solving the murder."

I myself loved this charming show within a show musical, not to mention that this is the last collaboration between the Tony Award songwriting team of John Kander and Fred Ebb. Get your Curtains tickets now. You've only got until June 29th.

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker At Applause Theatre Service

Having been in the ticket selling business for over a decade now I can honestly say I have seen it all. I've seen shows that got amazing reviews and yet struggled to find an audience. I've also seen shows that while maybe not my cup of tea run for years and years.

So what is your favorite show? Rent has been my favorite ever since it opened twelve years ago. However after seeing In The Heights for the second time last week, I think Rent might have some competition. Now don't get me wrong. I love Rent. And nothing will ever change that. But it's nice to see something new and original again on Broadway instead of cartoon and movies turned into musicals. Yes I know they have a place just like revivals do. But that's the good thing about Broadway. There is something for everybody. So see a Broadway show. It is an experience you will never forget.

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker At Applause Theatre Service

Having been in the ticket business for almost ten years now I have seen and done it all. I first started out as a Ticket Rep with the Roundabout Theatre Company before eventually moving to Studio 54 to work in the box office as assistant manager. By moving from the phone room to the box office my relationship with the general public obviously changed dramatically. Instead of dealing with their questions and complaints over the phone I would now be forced to handle any problems or issues face to face. Now to me I don't care if it's face to face or over the phone when it comes to selling tickets. We are here to provide a service to the theatre going public. A service I think that we here at Applause Theatre and Entertainment do very well. Working in the box office I was pretty much limited to selling one show. Now don't get me wrong. Cabaret was a great show. But after 4 years it was time for a change. Thankfully I got a job here. Now I get to not only sell every show but I get to write about them through our website. Until by boss Rich Gladstone, AKA The Ticket Man told me about it I really didn't know that much about blogging. Now I do. It is hand's down the best way to get your message out there. So if you have a free moment and want to read up on the latest theatre news or want the best deal on tickets check out our website. And if you have any questions give us a call or send us a message on our new Live Chat Service.

Want tickets to any other show On or Off Broadway? Call Applause Theatre Service now. The best seats at the best prices. That's Applause.

Applause Can Save You A Bundle on Broadway Tickets

Do you want to save money, time and the possible aggravation of trying to buy tickets for Broadway Theatre Tickets from companies who may want to charge you high prices? Who wouldn't want to?

There is a company called Applause Theatre and Entertainment Service Inc., located at 311 west 43rd street in New York that has a simple company motto. Applause http://www.applause-tickets.com/ is a company of real people (Broadway Show ticket experts) that "helps the public get the best seats for the best shows at the best prices". Applause's secret is a simple one really. They are so plugged into the Broadway theatre environment in New York having been in the business for over 21 years now, that they know which shows are hot (and hard to get) and which might be easier to obtain, sometimes for what they call "insider prices". Why wouldn't someone want an "insider's price" so they can save money?

For instance, right now if you go to www.applause-tickets.com/insider-deals.asp, Applause has a wonderful list of more than 20 major Broadway Shows that you can get great seats to, and save a bundle of money also. You get top priced tickets and save so much money, you can buy yourselves a really nice dinner at one of the nicer establishments in the city. Most people do have dinner first but maybe wouldn't spend as much on a somewhat nicer place to eat. Now they can.

Applause is open 7 days a week, from 9am till 8pm Monday thru Saturday and 9am till 7pm on Sundays. The web site is a great one http://www.applause-tickets.com/ but since the Applause staff loves to talk, you can call toll free at 800-451-9930 or locally at 212-307-7050.

Feel free to search for many others that are in the ticket selling business. There are literally hundreds of choices. The Applause people can pretty much guarantee the best service as well as amazing prices as well. Consider doing business with "real people you can trust" today.
