Customer Story

That's right folks. It's time for my customer story of the day. Like last week's story this also involves my first call of the day. It was from a very nice gentleman who was planning a trip for him and his wife to come into the city in December to do some shopping and see a show. He asked me if I had seen Jersey Boys and I told him that not only is it one of my favorites but continues to be one of Broadway's top selling musicals. I asked when he wanted to go and he told me that he really only had one day available. I told him that I had two options for him and his wife.I could get him Premium seats in the first ten rows for $425 each or I could get him seats in the Rear Mezzanine for $130 each.

Now I know when most people hear the words "Rear Mezzanine" their first thought is, "I am not sitting in the nose bleed section." Now while the seats I offered him were near the back they are actually a full view. Believe it or not but the theatre is not very big. Only 1200 seats. When you compare that to other theatres it is very small. I put him further at ease by telling him that when I saw the show two years ago I was in the last row on the side and saw fine. Plus he would be three rows closer than where I sat. Needless to say he felt better about the seats and decided to purchase them. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

Today is Columbus Day. Walking into work today I assumed it was going to be slow. Boy was I wrong. The phones started ringing first thing and hasn't stopped. Anyway the reason for my blog is to tell you about a customer that called me today. It was one of the first calls of the day and it was from a woman and her friend in New Jersey who wanted to come into the city with their husbands to see the Jersey Boys. Of course they wanted to sit right up front and hopefully within the next couple of months. They told me the dates that they were available and while we had seats they weren't as close as they hoped they would be. Did I mention she also picked the busiest weekend in New York City? So anyway I kept looking and told her that I could get her seats in the Orchestra right up front........for $425 each. Total silence. Well after her friend picked her up off the floor. I'm kidding. Just wanted to see if you were paying attention. Anyway I started to tell her that when I saw the show a couple of years ago I sat upstairs in the last row on the side and had a perfect view. I then found her seats in that section. A little closer than I was I might add. Not only that but I got her all four seats together and on the Center aisle. Suffice to say she was very happy. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

BOLD CHAT

I am so proud of the fact that Applause has a staff that answers all calls without voice mail, music on hold, or the ever popular,"I am sorry I can't come to the phone right now. I am either away from my desk or on the phone. I will call you at my earliest convenience."

What I forgot to mention is that during the day from 9AM until 8PM EST we have BOLD Chat on our Internet site: http://www.applause-tickets.com/. This gives you immediate access to one of our helpful and knowledgeable staff members who are here to answer any question's you might have.

I also want to remind you to compare our prices with any of the competition. Tickets for most Broadway shows are sold BELOW FACE VALUE. Let's be honest, Broadway show tickets are expensive. I remember that when A Chorus Line opened in 1975 a ticket for the show was $15 for Orchestra and Front Mezzanine. When A Chorus Line closed in 1990 tickets were $55.

Now tickets on Broadway are as high as $136.50 and even higher the week after Christmas. Doesn't it make sense to check our prices?

1950 TELEPHONE SYSTEM

If you call 1-212-307-7050 or 1-800-451-9930 you are in a for a big surprise. A person will answer the phone. There is no hold music and no voice mail. No one will say, "I'm sorry I cannot come to the phone" or "I'm either away from my desk or on the phone". My personal favorite,"Please leave a message and I will call you at my earliest convenience".

I remember that one of the largest banks in the country and the world advertised that you could speak to a person as if this were a new invention. Applause has had this system since we started in 1987. To be honest I think we can all agree that having a person answer the phone is the greatest system to date.

Mary Stuart's Opening Night on Broadway is set for April 19, 2009-Get Discount Tickets Now

If you like good dramas on Broadway, you may want to consider obtaining tickets to Mary Stuart, a new play that tells the very interesting story of the Queen of England (Elizabeth I) and her rival and cousin (Mary Queen of Scots) and the struggle for power over England and its kingdom. The play will describe the bitter rivalry between the two women and their families as well as their tremendous lust for power, greed and deception as they stop at nothing to get to rule their country.

Right now you can contact Applause Theater Service, a local New York State licensed ticket agency and ask for discount tickets for Mary Stuart. They can secure great seats at prices that are below the regular face value usually printed on the ticket. Just contact Applause locally in New York's theater district at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930 seven days a week. The special discount is valid through May 3, 2009 but my guess is that it will probably be extended for another month as well. Usually the non-musicals tend to offer more discounted tickets then their usually more popular musical selling Broadway Shows.

If you think Mary Stuart might be a good show for you, simply go to the Applause web site and check out their new home page video or give them a call. They love to talk about Broadway Shows.

Take care and enjoy Mary Stuart or other Broadway Shows you may attend.

Sincerely,
Rich Gladstone

Talk Live With An Applause Rep Today

Applause Theatre and Entertainment Service Inc. is proud to announce our latest venture into the Internet world. Boldchat. I'll be honest when my boss first told us about this new service I wasn't really sure what to expect. Personally I prefer talking to someone over the phone as opposed to texting or in this case a live chat with a representative. Well I am happy to say that not only do I enjoy it but it makes multi-tasking a lot easier. I can be talking to one customer on the phone and chat with another at the same time. Plus it allows the customers online to ask any question they want without having to pick up a phone. With this new system you can get the info you want and we can take your ticket request and complete it all in the same chat. It doesn't get any better that. Why not give it a try? You might be glad you did. Until next time theater lovers.

Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons Return to Broadway in Impressionism

Sure I like most of the Broadway theater I get to see, I'm easy to please I guess. As I sat in my seat at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater tonight, I couldn't wait to see two of my favorite movie stars-Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons perform in Impressionism, a new Michael Jacobs play. Mr. Irons and Ms. Allen are Tony Award-winners from their last appearances on Broadway years ago in The Real Thing and The Heidi Chronicles respectively.

The play takes place in Manhattan and tells the story about two middle-aged people, Thomas (played by Mr. Irons) and Katherine (played by Ms. Allen) that find love in a most unique way. Thomas has returned from Africa where as an International photojournalist has seen much death and sadness of people struggling everyday to survive. He returns to New York City and begins working in Katherine's art gallery. Over time, the pair and some neighborhood visitors to the gallery describe what "impression" they get from looking at several paintings in the gallery. Katherine and Thomas, although all play long appearing to be very different, finally realize they "fit with one another", and fall in love. Although I felt that Thomas and Katherine's characters might have developed a bit faster, during the second act we really begin to see how the two might "fancy one another".

Impressionism has a wonderful supporting cast featuring Marsha Mason (star of film and stage for over 30 years now), one of my favorite actresses, along with Hadley Delany, Michael T. Weiss, Margarita Levieva, Andre De Shields and Aaron Lazar. They all make this a true ensemble effort. Three time Tony Award-winning director Jack O'Brien directs this show.

Right now, Applause Theater Service, an officially state licensed ticketing agency for Impressionism and every Broadway Show playing, has superb seating for this play. They can obtain special discounted seats as well for most performances through April 19, 2009. Saturday evening seats are full priced. Impressionism is a strictly limited engagement and will play through July 5, 2009. Jeremy Irons appears with the permission of Actor's Equity Association.

If you think you might want to see Impressionism on Broadway, you can contact Applause Theater Service in New York City at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930, seven days a week. If you are interested in seeing some other Broadway Theater, click here for our current Broadway Show listing.

There's no pressure to buy anything at Applause. These folks love talking about Broadway theater. Dining out as well and they can suggest great places to eat. Talk with you soon friends.

Rock of Ages Tickets on Broadway are On Sale Now

I had loads of fun when I first saw Rock of Ages in an Off Broadway theater some months ago. I am happy to see that the show will move to Broadway and play the Brooks Atkinson Theater starting with performances on March 17, 2009.

Rock of Ages is a "rock musical" that takes place in Hollywood in the mid 1980's. The story is cute, about a small town girl meeting a big city rock star at L.A.s most famous rock n' roll club. The two fall in love to the "hit songs of the 80's". How cute is that?

Rock of Ages features music that of many of us grew up with- Bon Jovi, Journey, Styx, Pat Benetar, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and several others. I couldn't believe how I knew most of the songs and look forward to seeing Rock of Ages again in the next week or two.

Chris D'Arienzo wrote the musical and Kristin Haggi is the director of Rock of Ages. Choreography is by Kelly Devine. Rock of Ages starring actors are Constantine Maroulis, Amy Spanger and James Carpinello with an energetic and extremely talented supporting ensemble.

If you call now, Applause Theater Service, an officially licensed ticket agency for Rock of Ages and all the other Broadway theater in New York City, has access to specially discounted seats for Rock of Ages from now through May 3, 2009. It even includes several weekend performances.

Applause's local number in New York City is 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930 or you can check out their award-winning web site.

When your plans include a Broadway show, we hope you'll give us the opportunity to be of service to you, your family and friends.

Enjoy the Broadway theater.

Shrek The Musical's Adventure on Broadway

Shrek The Musical is one of my favorite Broadway shows. Never having seen the 3 movies based on William Steig's classic Shrek Adventures, I didn't know what to expect when I first went into New York City's Broadway Theater.

Shrek The Musical tells the story of Shrek, a hapless "ogre" who lives in a swamp and his fairytale friends as they embark on an adventure to bring Lord Farquaad (the ruler of the town where he lives) back a princess to marry him.. This is a deal Shrek makes with Lord Farquaad so that he will be able to live out the rest of his life in peace and quiet and regain title to the home that was taken from him. On Shrek's journey, we get to meet an energetic group of fairytale character friends of Shrek's that make this musical a standout in the "musical comedy" category this season.

Brian d'Arcy James and Sutton Foster star. The supporting cast are some of the most amazingly talented actors ever to appear on a Broadway stage.

Right now, Shrek The Musical is offering some "discount" tickets for their show prior to this season's Tony Awards in June of 2009. If you are interested in seeing one of this season's top musicals, you might want to speak with the ticketing experts at Applause Theater Service, a local provider of Shrek The Musical tickets. According to Rich Gladstone, Applause's Vice President of Sales, "Shrek The Musical is one of the best shows I've ever seen. It's great fun, loaded with tremendous acting talent and has very enjoyable music too. I promise you'll love it and its great for kids, adults and the entire family".

Shrek the Musical will probably offer these discount seats for a few months so there's no need to rush out and buy them. However, like most things in life, the sooner you book your tickets, the better seats you'll most likely get.

No pressure though friends. If you want to talk, simply call Applause Theater Service in New York at their local phone line at 212-307-7050 or toll free 800-451-9930. They will get you in to see Shrek the Musical at discount prices and suggest great places to have a meal as well.

If you want to talk about Shrek the Musical let us hear from you. If you are interested in some other Broadway Theater, simply click here for a complete up-to-date listing of what's playing on Broadway right now and for probably the next several months.

Enjoy the theater.
