We started this small but very personal theatre ticket selling business over 21 years ago. I am pleased to say, business has gone very well indeed. It turns out that the more computerization has changed our world for the better, our personal level of service coupled with the technology to know exactly what theatre tickets consumers want, has allowed our firm to remain an even more viable company than before.

Applause has access to its own multi-million dollar inventory of the most sought after seats on Broadway. In addition Applause has been using the most up to date ticketing technology. In short what this means is Applause can get you just about any seat you desite for the price you want to pay as well. Pretty cool right? Who will win the Best Musical Tony Award in 2008?

I have seen just about every show on Broadway this season except for one I think. I enjoyed all the shows that are in the running to win the much coveted Tony Award in 2008 for Best Musical.

They are:
Cry-Baby
In The Heights
Passing Strange
Xanadu

Although all four of these very unique shows were superb, each in their own unique way, I would cast my vote for In The Heights. This show is about the people that live in Washington Heights, a place where the windows are left open and you buy your coffee from the local bodega owner. It is a place where the music itself gets you feeling the very life and love these people have for their community and for each other. I had a great time with my wife and friends when I first saw the show a few months ago.

It is nominated for 13 Tony Awards and I can see the show winning maybe 5 or 6 of them, especially for 2008 Best Musical. Keep your fingers crossed, I feel a win for In The Heights coming on.

If anyone you know needs excellent seats for any of these Tony Award nominated shows, you can give the trustworthy licensed theatre ticket agents at Applause a call. Their award winning web site is www.applause-tickets.com but these folks love to talk so why not give them a call when you have a few minutes to talk. Their local phone is 212-307-7050 and toll free at 800-451-9930. You'll be gald you called. Satisfaction guaranteed, I promise.

Sincerely,
Rich Gladstone

You Can Trust The Broadway Ticket Experts At Applause in New York City

I like to read about business. In fact "business" has been kind of like a hobby for me since we started our own "personal theatre ticket service", Applause Theatre and Entertainment Service Inc. http://www.applause-tickets.com/ over 21 years ago with my friend and partner Bill Stolting. Bill and I have shared lots of great times together over the years, both personal and business.

We were sitting around Bill's office several times over the past few months or so, just talking about how the "ticket business" has changed. Indeed it has. We used to sit and take phone orders never really imagining there would be an Internet one day that could "send us the business". We used to "hand write" our customer ticket requests on an index size work order and then manually carry out all the business functions we needed to make sure the customer received their tickets and then finally bill out a credit card so we could get paid. It seemed like the phone call was easy and fast and the process took much longer. This sort of reminds me of my mom saying "it seems to take quite a while to make dinner yet a much shorter time to consume the meal".

Although Bill and I were fortunate enough to have our small ticket company automated a few years back we have been thinking about some things that we could tell consumers that separates us from the hundreds of other ticket companies. Can you believe there are hundreds of mostly small mom and pop like companies that provide a theater ticket service to companies and consumers alike?

So what's the biggest difference when contacting Applause Theatre Service in New York City? It's not really just the "ticket" right? Everyone sells tickets, everyone provides a service. Some services are really good and some are not right?

At Applause Theatre Service, one of the things we think we do "the best" and that no one other service can in our expert opinion, is really quite simple when you think about it. We would agree that we have tickets and many others do also, some dates and shows are little better seating or maybe not quite as good as the seating that we have. More or less, we can get tickets to Broadway Shows www.applause-tickets.com/broadway.asp and "the competition" can as well.

The three things we kept thinking about when Bill and I chatted these last few months about "the Applause difference", have nothing to do with tickets. It has to do with:

1. Amazing People-we feel our staff is truly the best, thinking all about what it is the customer is looking for, their needs and feelings. Have a peek at our team http://www.applause-tickets.com/ . Our friendly group of Broadway Experts wants to fulfill customer needs, not just "make a sale". We feel the greatest compliment you could possibly give us after we provide our service is a "referral" of a family member, friend or maybe even a co-worker.

2. Great Service-sure I would say our service is "the best", so would everyone else right? Still if you contact us by phone, email, chat line, whichever method one is comfortable with, we have confidence that people will be able to "see the difference" between Applause and "the other guys".

3. Trust-this little word "trust" is what I keep reading in all those business books I mentioned I have read in the past year or two. Of course the only way consumers and corporate ticket buyers would really know if they can "trust" Applause or any other ticket company is quite simple. Just pickup the phone and give us a call in New York on our toll free line at 800-451-9930 or locally at 212-307-7050. Experience our brand of customer service first hand and you'll see what I mean.

Bill and I don't have visions of becoming the biggest ticket company in the world, we simply want to keep moving forward in our work lives and keep our small company http://www.applause-tickets.com/ running smoothly for the long term. Since tickets are really just a commodity, the consumer today can simply click on dozens of web sites and shop around for the best price right? And even after doing all this "clicking and price shopping", will they get the best deal, service and advice when making a purchase? The customer should know during the phone conversation if they can "trust" the company they are doing business with.

Did you ever walk into a store that was a mom and pop business and wonder how they still exist with all the large big box discount retailers out there? My guess is that maybe they offer the same 3 items above to their customers, AMAZING PEOPLE, GREAT SERVICE and TRUST.

Why take a chance? Talk with our people. Let us help you find the best tickets for any Broadway Show. And let us give you the service you should expect when making a Broadway Show purchase.

“A CATERED AFFAIR”, http://www.applause-tickets.com/catered-affair.asp SWEEPS SAN DIEGO THEATRE CRITICS CIRCLE AWARDS. THE NEW HARVEY FIERSTEIN / JOHN BUCCHINO MUSICAL RECEIVES 7 AWARDS INCLUDING; OUTSTANDING NEW
MUSICAL FOR PRE-BROADWAY OLD GLOBE RUN**FAITH PRINCE, TOM WOPAT ALSO RECEIVE TOP HONORS**PERFORMANCES BEGIN MARCH 25, 2008, ON BROADWAY New York, NY –

The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Awards were announced at a West Coast ceremony last night and A Catered Affair, the new musical with book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, score by John Bucchino and directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle, was the big winner with 7 awards, including Outstanding New Musical. The SDTCC awards honor excellence during the theatrical year in San Diego; A Catered Affair premiered at The Old Globe on September 30, 2007, inaugurating the theater’s 2007-8 Season. The musical’s stars, Faith Prince and Tom Wopat, received Outstanding Actress in a Musical and Outstanding Actor in a Musical awards. The show’s score (John Bucchino), direction (John Doyle), lighting (Brian MacDevitt) and orchestrations (Don Sebesky) were also honored. The complete list of awards includes:

Outstanding New Musical

Outstanding Score – John Bucchino

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical – Faith Prince

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical – Tom Wopat

Outstanding Direction – John Doyle

Outstanding Lighting – Brian MacDevitt

Outstanding Orchestrations – Don Sebesky

When A Catered Affair opened in its pre-Broadway run, Anne Marie Welsh of The San Diego Union-Tribune declared, “What makes A Catered Affair different isn’t its size, but authenticity. That rare quality flows from Fierstein’s book, Doyle’s direction, the performances and, most importantly, Bucchino’s music; all spring from a similar vision and feel seamlessly unified.” She added, “A Catered Affair defies the lowest-common-denominator taste for “American Idol”-style belting, but also moves beyond the usual expectations for bouncy, brashly upbeat storytelling. . . The show defies popular expectation without becoming elitist or highbrow.”

A Catered Affair was also named one of the year’s best by The San Diego Union-Tribune, North County Times and San Diego Reader.**A Catered Affair begins performances on Broadway on March 25 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street) with opening night set for April 17.

The production stars Tony Award-winner Prince as ‘Aggie Hurley,’ the mother- of-the-bride, Tony Award-nominee Wopat as 'Tom Hurley,' the father-of-the-bride, Harvey Fierstein as ‘Winston,’ the uncle-of-the-bride, Leslie Kritzer as 'Jane Hurley,' the bride-to-be and Matt Cavenaugh as ‘Ralph Halloran,’ the groom-to-be.

A Catered Affair, Broadway's newest musical, asks the question that inevitably faces every mother and daughter: Whose wedding is it anyway? One family’s dilemma is now a funny, poignant and oh, so human show of love and disaffection. Set in the Bronx of 1953, this musical reveals a couple strained to their limits as they plan their only daughter's wedding. Harvey Fierstein’s book and John Bucchino’s score explore both our need for love and the true meaning of family.

Go and See Xanadu on Broadway-Applause Theatre Service Offers Great Seats at Amazing Prices

Did you ever see Xanadu, the 1980 Olivia Newton John roller-disco themed movie with music by the famous Electric Light Orchestra? This Broadway stage adaptation of Xanadu is eager to please, and let me tell you why?

Xanadu stars Kerry Butler who plays Kira (most recently of Hairspray and Little Shop of Horrors). Cheyenne Jackson (recently seen in Aida, Alter Boyz and All Shook Up) plays Sonny with long time veteran Broadway and film star Tony Roberts as Danny McGuire.

Xanadu tells the story of the love between a goddess and the mortal she inspires. The main plot centers on a Greek muse sent down to earth that is supposed to inspire Californians in the 1980's. While on her mission, she meets and falls in love with an artist and helps him to try to make his dreams come true.

There are many recognizable songs in Xanadu, especially "Party All Over The World", "Evil Women", "Magic", "Have You Ever Been Mellow?" and of course, "Xanadu".

Xanadu is a great show for everyone to see. Boyfriends, girlfriends, dad's, mom's, your kids or even your friends at work will have a blast at this show that the New York Times says is "Heaven on wheels!". The critic for The New Yorker magazine called Xanadu "the most fun you'll have on Broadway".

I have a little secret for you. If you call the friendly Broadway Ticket Experts at Applause Theatre Service in New York right now and ask for the "insider's price", they will be able to get you amazing seats at great prices. They have been in the ticket business for over 21 years and can be trusted to provide "the best seats for the best shows at the best prices".

Hairspray:Five Years and Counting

Being in the industry that we are in, we are often invited to view a sneak peak at the upcoming Broadway shows. This was the case in August 2002 when I received an invitation to see one of the final dress rehearsals of Hairspray prior to its first preview. As is the case with a new show, they generally go through a three to four week preview period. That way they can work out any kinks before the official opening.

From the moment the curtain rose and the first chords of “Good Morning Baltimore” began I was in heaven. I could not believe that this was just a dress rehearsal. Well as you all know Hairspray went on to become one of the biggest hits of the season and the winner of 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Five years later it continues to play to sold out crowds in both New York and around the world.

Live theatre. There’s nothing like it!

Give us a call at 1-800-451-9930 or 212-307-7050, or visit us on the web at www.applause-tickets.com.

Applause Theatre Service-Jersey Boys and Wicked are Still the Top Broadway Hits

Everyone knows there are 30 Broadway Shows playing throughout the year in New York City. I have seen most of them and if you have time, I would suggest seeing a show or two that you might not necessarily choose but maybe something that you would consider seeing at some point down the road.

Still, to be honest, the most popular shows in New York City continue to be Wicked and Jersey Boys. I have seen both and they are indeed a real treat to see.

Jersey Boys tells the story of Frankie Vailli and The Four Seasons from their days "hanging out" on the streets of New Jersey to making it in the "big time" in the music business. These guys were just 4 simple blue collar young men who formed a singing group creating the hit songs "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Oh What A Night", "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and many more recognizable tunes. The cast includes Michael Longoria who plays Frankie Valli, Christian Hoff as Tommy DeVito, J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi as well as Daniel Reichard, portraying the role of the group's composer Bob Gaudio.

The other big hit in New York City for years now is Wicked. Wicked tells the story of how the two witches from The Wizard of Oz story met. The Wicked Witch is Elphaba and the Good Witch is Glinda. The story takes a revisionist look at an American icon of evil and soon discovers just how the young and passionate Wicked Witch Elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. Of course, playing opposite the evil character is her school roommate Glinda, who grows up to be the Good Witch.

Wicked currently stars Stephanie J. Bock as Elphaba, Annaleigh Ashford as Glinda and Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, a Broadway theatre veteran.

After 4 years, Wicked has shattered previous box office records worldwide, grossing $11.2 million dollars for the week ending December 30,2007 as well as the highest grossing week in Broadway history with sales of $1,839,950.00. Wicked www.applause-tickets.com/wicked.asp is a "must see". Broadway show.

Remember, if you have time to spare and a few extra dollars, in addition to seeing Wicked and Jersey Boys, just give us a call and ask for any "Broadway Insider Pricing". Although there are no discounts for Wicked and Jersey Boys at the moment, Applause Theatre Service www.applause-tickets.com/insider-deals.asp often has some discount offerings for shows that have tickets available.

Need Theatre Tickets in New York? Look no more, Applause can help.

If you type a keyword into Google looking for theatre tickets, you will get thousands of results? You may click here and click there but will you get the web site that will ultimately answer your questions? Will you be more confused about where to shop than before you started your search?

Most sites are simply looking to sell you something, tickets in New York for a Broadway show, maybe a dinner add on. It seems as though most of these theatre ticket selling web sites are more or less the same, often wanting people to "buy tickets on line". It may make sense for these companies as everyone likes to do business as easily as possible while making sales. The only problem with this concept is that it only describes "what's in it for the ticket company"? Making a sale no doubt.

At New York's Applause Theatre and Entertainment Service Inc., located at 311 west 43rd street, suite 601, New York, New York 10036, the main focus is "on the customer". Applause offers a personal Broadway ticket service. They don't expect a first time caller or request by email to necessarily make a purchase on the first contact with the company. After all, potential customers need to trust a company first, then maybe make a purchase right?

At Applause http://www.applause-tickets.com/ , the emphasis is on making a potential customer feel comfortable. They want people interested in their ticket service to judge for themselves that Applause offers a truly reliable ticket service, one that explains what seating and pricing options there are.

One call to Applause at their New York City midtown office at 212-307-7050 or 1-800-451-9930 and you will see first hand what a"personal theatre ticket service" can do for anyone interested in buying Broadway Show tickets. The company is open 7 days a week and there is no voice mail as these local experts are promoting "the personal contact" approach to doing business.

There is no pressure to buy anything. The staff at Applause http://www.applause-tickets.com/ welcomes your questions and would like to help you obtain theatre tickets or get the information you need when planning a trip to New York City.

Why keep searching and still not get the answers you need when shopping for theatre tickets in New York? Look no more. Call Applause today at 212-307-7050 or 1-800-451-9930. You can ask for Todd, Teresa, Jay, Erik, Carol, Claudia, Bill or Rich

www.applause-tickets.com , then simply click on the SPECIALS SECTION, you will see that Applause Theatre Service offers special pricing, not to mention "amazing" seats for many of the shows playing in New York City. There is a restriction or two here and there but most of the time it only restricts the discounts for Saturday evenings.

Applause has always been known for its personal service. Now by offering special pricing, they have all the bases covered. Why not keep your money in your own pocket and ask Applause for the "insider's pricing" the next time your plans include a Broadway show.

Applause Theatre-Rent

April 24, 1996. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Like most people I first heard about Rent due to the untimely death of its creator Jonathan Larson. After numerous articles regarding his death and the show I decided that I needed to see what the buzz was all about. Well not only did it exceed all my expectations but eleven years and over two dozen viewings later it is still by far the best thing I have ever seen. If you haven’t seen it go now before it’s too late. No it’s not closing but nothing lasts forever. Give us a call at 212-307-7050 or 1-800-451-9930 or visit us on the web at www.applause-tickets.com

The Farnsworth Invention on Broadway-Applause Has Amazing Seats

If you want to see a show that might win the Tony Award for Best Play in 2008, you need to get yourself a ticket to see The Farnsworth Invention in New York City. The show stars Hank Azaria and Jimmi Simpson and is directed by Des McAnuff.

The year is 1929 and 2 brilliant men spend years competing against one another trying to invent the device we now call "television". Although the men work a great distance from one another, thousands of miles away in fact, they know that each of them can't take a moment's rest or the other one will create the invention first.

On one hand we have David Sarnoff, the top corporate man at RCA and the other man is Philo Farnsworth, a farm boy from Idaho who was a genius in science as a young boy in high school. The question is, who will be able to create the clearest picture on the telivision screen first?

The show was brilliantly researched by Aaron Sorkin, one of my favorite television writers from The West Wing as well as writing A Few Good Men for Broadway and the big screen as well. He may have taken a few liberties with his facts when writing this play but he certainly made it interesting. I normally only see non musicals once but can't wait to return to see The Farnsworth Invention again very soon.

I don't remember being on the edge of my seat in the theatre for a very long time. Decide for yourself who really was the true inventor of television? Was it Sarnoff or Farnsworth? Both of these men desperately believed in the future of this amazing technological device.

Applause Theatre and Entertainment Service-New York's Trusted Ticket Service

It's Thursday night, November 29,2007, and it is a little after 8pm. Every Broadway show is performing tonight live in New York City. The 19 day long Stagehands union strike is finally over. Our lives as ticket agents are getting back to normal.

Having been a licensed ticket seller for Broadway, Off Broadway and family event shows like the Radio City Christmas Spectacular for over 30 years now, I can say I have never experienced a time this long when the shows weren't playing. I walked through the theatre district tonight and saw the Broadway neon lights brighter than ever, not to mention the fantastic "electricity like feeling" throughout the cool night air.

Broadway is back. If you want to feel the excitement too, need some information or a description of a top Broadway or Off Broadway show you've been thinking about catching one day-give us a call at 212-307-7050 or at 1-800-451-9930. There's no pressure to buy anything. We'd like to get to know you, hopefully let us open an account for you, maybe put you on the mailing list so we can keep you informed on what's happening on Broadway in New York City.

If you prefer to go online, you can meet our people too. Simply go to http://www.applause-tickets.com/ .

If you need some theatre tickets in New York, we'd love to hear from you. Take care now.
