9 to 5 The Musical starts previews on Broadway on April 7, 2009

Do you remember the extremely popular film of the 1980's called 9 to 5? Well I am so happy to inform you that 9 to 5 The Musical will begin performances at the Marquis Theater in New York City on April 7, 2009.

9 to 5 The Musical is based on the film by Patricia Resnick which tells the very funny story of a more than efficient office manager by the name of Violet Newstead, who along with her co-workers plot to get revenge on their "sexist" boss, keep him occupied for a while, as they take over their place of work for the time being. You might recall that in the movie, the ladies take control and turn the office into a part day-care center complete with "flexible" work hours. Sounds like fun right?

9 to 5 The Musical has a great score with new songs written by Dolly Parton. In addition, the role of Violet is played by Allison Janney (of television's The West Wing series), for which she won several Emmy Awards as well as three fantastic Broadway regulars-Marc Kudisch, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty. This show should be one of the more popular ones that we get to see this Broadway season.

Right now you might want to call Applause Theater Service in New York City, as they have an inside track on "discount" tickets for this show for many performances. The discount is good for shows through June 14, 2009 so take your time. No pressure. Simply be sure you would like to see 9 to 5 The Musical, then you can call Applause at their New York City office at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930 to buy tickets.

Things To Do when Visiting New York City-Broadway Theater, Dining Out, Shopping and So much More

I just moved to New York City with my wife recently. It's nice being able to walk to the office every day. In fact we seem to walk everywhere now. We must walk 2-3, sometimes even 4 miles a day. I know it sounds like an excuse just so we can eat out more often. Maybe so but we are really beginning to love New York City. When I pair this with all the free theater tickets I receive being in the ticket business, things are really pretty good these days.

Now that we live here, we are starting to venture out much more and sample new restaurants, do more shopping and find nice little shops that we could not previously find in the local suburban mall where we used to live. We are discovering allot of wonderful new places to spend some time and enjoy life in the big city.

For those of you visiting New York City who may want to know about these great little secrets, please give me a call at 212-307-7050. I'd like to help you see more of the city on your next visit. Another cool thing you can do is go to http://www.nymag.com/ and check out some of their "things to do in New York City". My wife's friend gave us a subscription to New York Magazine as a housewarming gift. It's chock full of great things to do in New York for locals and visitors alike.

For instance, I found out that one of my favorite film stars, Oliver Platt, who is starring in Guys and Dolls on Broadway (opening night is March 1, 2009), has an older brother, Adam, who is the chief restaurant critic for New York magazine. Adam interviewed Oliver in this weeks magazine issue and asked questions about their childhood and the pressures of taking on the role of Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls. It makes for interesting reading. Sure I knew some things about Oliver Platt and Guys and Dolls but it was fun learning about a different aspect of Oliver's life. Anyway, I am hoping that the critic's love Guys and Dolls as much as I did when I saw it last week.

If you want tickets for the Guys and Dolls show at New York's Nederlander Theater, please give me a call at Applause Theater Service, right here in midtown Manhattan. It's a real New York type of old fashioned Broadway musical.
If you want to talk about other shows, check out our current Broadway Show list or give me a call when you have a chance. Applause is open 7 days a week and we're here to help visitors enjoy the city as much as we do.

Sincerely,
Rich Gladstone

Broadway Theater Discount Tickets-Why Pay More Than You Need To?

I've been selling tickets to Broadway Shows now for over 31 Years. Sure the price of admission to Broadway Shows have changed allot over the years but I'd like to clue you in to a little "secret" I uncovered a while ago.

It's simple really. If you need to stretch your money so that it goes further these days (and who doesn't my friends?), you should consider calling Applause Theater Service for discount tickets to many of Broadway's top shows playing right now. Or soon to begin playing in the next few weeks.

Applause is a local Broadway Show ticket expert. They've been around for over 21 years now and understand ticket buyers better than most companies. If you need a first 10 rows center type of ticket, you'll have to pay a premium or somewhat high price for that privilege. But if you are willing to take a very good seat, in the best sections of the theater, you may want to contact the friendly folks at Applause. The seats won't be located in the front row center but Applause can save you allot of money and can guarantee the seat they secure for you will be in a very good location in the most desired sections of the theaters. Guaranteed, that's right friends.

Here's a link to our discount show list. Seeing as shows open and close on Broadway with frequency, you may want to call the Applause ticketing staff. They love to talk about theater, and they can also suggest good places to grab a meal before your show. Here's a link to some restaurant suggestions our staff frequents.

Why pay more than you have to when buying Broadway Show tickets. Call the local experts at Applause Theater Service in New York City.

Enjoy the show of your choice. We hope to speak with you when your plans bring you to Broadway.

Sincerely,
Rich Gladstone

Broadway Tickets and dinner too

It seems like we get lots of people visiting New York City that want to know about good places to eat before the theatre. They purchase their theatre tickets for Broadway from Applause www.applause-tickets.com then we often make suggestions for dining.

We wanted to let visitors to the city know about the great restaurants on 9th avenue, between 43rd and 55th streets that serve great food, have resonable prices, stellar service and manage to get people to enjoy a great meal and get to the theatre on time as well. Some of the restaurants are on 8th avenue or between 8th and 9th avenues in the theatre district.

One of my personal favorites is a place we love called Lattanzi at 361 west 46th street, between 8th and 9th avenues. They have a very nice pre theatre menu as well as a wonderful selection of Italian specialties. It is a little pricey for a theatre district restaurant but the food was so delicious. We also noted the excellent service from the moment we stepped foot in their door till we left for the theatre.

Another great place in the theatre district to enjoy a great meal is Pietrasanta at 683 Ninth Avenue at 47th street. This great little find is a small restaurant that serves a very hearty traditonal Italian meal. The pasta dishes are amazing, their homemade bread "to die for". Pietrasanta does a great job getting everyone in and out to make their Broadway shows with great ease. Try it, I guarantee you will love the food and have a great time.

For the seroius steak lover, we just had a terrific meal at Del Frisco's located at 1221 Sixth Avenue at 49th street. This is a very busy place where the 9-5 crowd congregate after work for drinks and good food. The steak cuts are huge and the service is outstanding. This is somewhat pricey, as most steak houses are but they have a nice $39.95 pre theatre menu for those on a budget.

If you are planning on seeing a Broadway show and need tickets or just some good advice on great places to eat, give me a call at Applause Theatre and Entertainment Service, 311 west 43rd street, between 8th and 9th avenues. Our phone number is 212-307-7050 or email me directly at rich@applause-tickets.com . Best wishes, Rich Gladstone,The Ticket Man
