Disney On Broadway
I know what you're thinking. The world's biggest Disney hater in the world doing a blog on them? I must have really lost it.Now to be honest I don't hate everything that Disney puts out. I just don't like them taking over Broadway. In the last fifteen years alone they have produced six different shows on the Great White Way. The Lion King is still running having first opened in December of 1997 while Beauty and the Beast enjoyed a thirteen year run before closing in 2007. Aida enjoyed a nice four year run and Mary Poppins while not a blockbuster has been playing since the fall of 2006.That brings me to Tarzan and The Little Mermaid. Both shows ran for a little over a year and a half and failed to make it's investment back.I guess four out of six is better than most. Now of the six shows that Disney produced I actually saw all of them except for The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. In case you are wondering I didn't pay for the tickets. I got them free thru work.Regardless of what I think Disney is here to stay my friends. That will never change. I guess I should be thankful because without their shows we might not sell as many tickets. That means less jobs and no more blogs from me. You wouldn't want that to happen would you? I didn't think so. Until next time theatre fans.

Has Disney Lost Their Mind?
Well according to Michael Riedel of the New York Post they have. If reports are true then in a couple of years Dumbo could be coming to the Great White Way. Have they not learned from their past mistakes? Yes I know The Lion King is still one of the most popular shows around and Beauty and the Beast ran for twelve years. Are we forgetting about Tarzan and The Little Mermaid?Evidently the higher ups at Disney did because they are going to go ahead with what I'm sure will be another colossal disaster. Maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe they have access to a magic crystal ball that the rest of us can't see. Regardless of anybody has the money to put on a show the size of Dumbo, pun intended, then it is the "All Mighty Mouse". Until next time theatre fans.

Disney On Broadway
If you would have told me fifteen years ago that Disney would be a major force on Broadway I would have told you that you were crazy. Yet here we are in 2009 and The Lion King and Mary Poppins continue to be two of the biggest sellers on Broadway. Now for those of you who read my blogs know I'm not the biggest Disney fan in the world. That doesn't mean they don't have a place on Broadway. If it wasn't for them most children would never get the chance to experience a Broadway show. For that they should be commended. Since 1994 Disney has produced six shows on the Great White Way. Some like Beauty and the Beast and Aida were very successful. Others like Tarzan and The Little Mermaid were not. Either way Disney is here to stay folks. Now whether or not they will have as big a hit as The Lion King again is another question. Until next time theatre fans.JWB

Call Applause Now To See Disney On Broadway
Calling all Disney fans. Now is the best time to see your favorite Disney shows on Broadway and not only that but at some incredible savings. So what's your favorite? I myself am not the biggest Disney fan in the world but they do have their place on Broadway. If not for Disney most kids would not get to experience live theatre until much later in their life. For that Disney should be commended. Right now there are three Disney shows currently running on the Great White Way. First up is The Lion King. The show which opened to rave reviews in December 2007 is the show that really put Disney on the map and showed that they are and for the foreseeable future a force to be reckoned with on Broadway. The show which won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1998 is still one of the most popular shows on Broadway and continues to charm audiences of all ages eight times a week at the Minskoff Theatre.
Next up is Mary Poppins based on the much loved 1964 movie and the classic children's book by P.L. Travers. The movie which was actually one of my favorites as a child has been been playing to packed houses since it first opened on Broadway in November 2006. Although the reviews were mixed the show continues to delight audiences from around the world.Last but certainly not least is The Little Mermaid based on the 1989 film. Tru
th be told this is the only one that I have seen. Going in I knew that I probably wouldn't like it but a free ticket is a free ticket. I thought it was very entertaining. It is a great show for the whole family.Well there you have it. Disney on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

The Lion King on Broadway still Roars with Excitement
Most people I talk to on Broadway are fans of Disney. After all, all of their shows play for several years to near capacity crowds, particularly at the beginning of their run on Broadway. Although many think Disney shows are for children, I have seen them all and they are really intended for the entire family, just like their amusement parks.Since I am in the business of Broadway ticket sales and tourism to New York City, I thought I would write a simple blog about The Lion King, Disney's second Broadway show following Beauty and the Beast. The Lion King is a show that people go back to see over and over again. And its no wonder when you think about the fact that The Lion King won six Tony Awards in 1988 including the coveted Best Musical award.
The Lion King has an exhilarating musical score with Music by Elton John and Lyrics by Tim Rice as well as the most unique puppetry ever seen on stage. The Lion King tells an emotional story of a young royal heir named Simba and the animals of the African Pride Lands. The most innovative Costume Design imaginable and outstanding Direction of The Lion King is by Julie Taymor. The show plays every day except for Mondays.
If you think you want to see one of the most popular and creative shows to ever play Broadway, you might want to call Applause Theater Service, a locally licensed New York ticket agency to obtain tickets. Although Applause specializes in obtaining tickets for many Broadway Shows at BELOW FACE VALUE, The Lion King's popularity will require patrons that will pay full price plus a reasonable service charge. Still, when you consider what great theater you get once your inside the Minskoff Theater on Broadway, you'll know the price you paid was well worth it.
And just to give you some added extra benefit for reading our Broadway Ticket News blog, you might want to consider having a look at Restaurant Row, a place where we recommend 16 different restaurants in the Broadway Theater District. We often dine on Restaurant Row before going to the theater ourselves.
The friendly Broadway ticket experts at Applause are waiting to hear from you now. Enjoy The Lion King or the Broadway show of your choice.
Sincerely,Rich Gladstone
