What Is A Ticket Broker

To be honest until I started working at Applause a few years ago I wasn't really sure. Now of course I knew that they sold tickets for events in New York and probably Nationwide as well. What I didn't realize was that there were so many. In fact in New York City alone there are at least twenty to twenty-five with hundreds more around the country.

Now when you look at that total I would say more than half of those are licenced by their respective states. Now you could spend all day researching different sites trying to find the best deal. In fact I recommend that you do. Nobody buys on their first call. I know I like to do a little investigating when I am looking to purchase something. In this economy it just makes sense. Shop around. Take your time. Then do what is best for you. It's your money after all. Until next time theatre fans.

How to Buy Tickets for Broadway

It's important to know the company you are buying tickets from when planning to attend a Broadway Show.

So you are thinking about buying tickets for one of the current Broadway Shows playing. A quick Google search for "Broadway tickets" will yield you over 14 million different results along with 23 different advertisers that display ads on all results pages. Talk about confusion?

Right now you probably think I'm going to say something typical like "call our company, we're the best place to buy tickets for Broadway". Why would I do that? That would make me just another "pushy" sales man.

Most of us that shop on the Internet regularly realize that after a while, many companies all tend to resemble the next one. This is true when shopping for Broadway tickets as well.

In fact it seems that most of the Broadway ticket agencies that come up in the search results aren't even located in New York City. Does it make sense that these companies would really know everything about all the shows or what's happening in New York City? I would tend to think probably not. They also don't seem to display any kind of licensing information as required by the State of New York, Department of Licensing Division. Does it make sense to take a risk and purchase tickets for Broadway Theater not knowing if the company is legitimate or not?

After you do your due diligence, shop around and ask questions, we hope you'll consider a call to Applause Theater Service in New York City. At Applause, you get a really excellent customer service experience. And with real people you can trust.

Click here and see what some of our past and current customers say about us. At Applause you'll be given all the options of seating as well as pricing options. And remember to ask for the Below Face Value ticket deals. We know all the discounts that are being offered on a daily basis. Why pay more than you need to?

Remember to say The Ticket Man sent you. You'll be glad you did.

Sincerely,
Rich Gladstone

Mary Poppins on Broadway is Great Family Fun

If you haven't had the opportunity to see a Disney theatrical production on Broadway, now might be a great time for you, your friends and your family. I saw Mary Poppins twice and enjoyed it much more than I thought. Many think its a show for kids but its really a great fun-filled show for the entire family in my opinion. Mary Poppins on Broadway is a live musical production based on the P.L Travers children stories and the Walt Disney film. There are many recognizable songs from the film by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman with new songs written for the show by George Stiles and Andrew Drewe. The scenic and costume design by Broadway veteran Bob Crowley are worth the price of admission alone. The acting is first class with Scarlett Strallen playing the lead role of Mary Poppins, Adam Fiorentino playing Bert and Broadway regular Rebecca Luker playing the role of Mrs. Banks. Mary Poppins is the "magical" nanny to The Banks children of 17 Cherry Tree Lane in London who helps the family to learn and appreciate everything it really means "to be a family". Many will easily be able to recall the songs "Chim Chim Cher-ee", "Let's Go Fly A Kite" and the very fun and memorable "Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious". You'll have a great time at Mary Poppins, believe me, everyone does, especially the adults you take with you.

And now your family can see Disney's fantastic Broadway production of Mary Poppins at Below Face Value prices. We made it an integral part of Applause Theater Service's BFV ticket deals program.

If you have a family of four or just 3 people you know, then the four of you can see Mary Poppins at very special prices, and get superb top priced seating in the theater as well. Right now through September 5, 2009, a simple call to Applause Theater Service in New York will guarantee you terrific seats in the orchestra or front mezzanine of Mary Poppins for rates that no other licensed ticket agency in New York State can compete with. The special deal is valid for most performances so call us in New York at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930 if you think you'd like to talk about seeing Mary Poppins or maybe one of the other top Broadway Shows we offer.

I've seen just about every show on Broadway so if you want to talk with someone that knows about the Mary Poppins or any of the other great Broadway shows, please call me personally at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930, seven days a week, 365 days a year. We love people and love to talk about the shows too.

We guarantee you the very best service the ticket industry has come to know of us. We also know our prices cannot be beat. So what do you have to lose?

Mamma Mia on Broadway

Could anyone ever have predicted that a cute little musical named Mamma Mia!, a fun Broadway show about a young woman planning her wedding, and trying to invite three men who potentially could be her father-would turn out to be one of the "long-time" running shows in New York City? Well friends, it's true. Mamma Mia! has been playing to mostly sold-out Broadway audiences since October of 2001.

One of the many things I personally love about Mamma Mia! is that the show features the wonderful music of ABBA, the 1960's rock and roll group that was really popular in Europe. The action takes place on a Greek Island where we see the beautiful young "bride-to-be named" Sophie nervously looking forward to the arrival of the 3 men who could be her dad. All three men had a relationship with Sophie's mom one summer about 20 years ago. So you can imagine how interesting this musical could be.

Mamma Mia! has an abundance of talented Broadway actors that all do their part to help the audience feel like you are very much a part of the wedding to be. Carolee Carmello plays Sophie's mom Donna Sheridan in the show. Brandi Burkhardt plays Sophie. She was recently seen on Broadway in another one of my favorites last season, A Tale of Two Cities. Judy McLane plays Tanya, one of Sophie's moms friends.

Mamma Mia's music and lyrics were written by ABBA's founders Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus with a book by Catherine Johnson. Although I don't personally recall growing up and thinking ABBA's music was that popular when I was a teenager, let me tell you friends, their music is lots of fun to listen, sing and dance to. And that's a pretty good testimonial coming from a "closet" Beach Boy fan of the 1960's.

My colleagues and I are always writing blog entries about Broadway Shows. We work for a company called Applause Theater Service, a locally licensed ticket agency for nearly 22 years operating in New York City. The bosses are always talking about making sure that Applause Theater Service stays in the top of mind to theater-goers all over the world so we write about shows we like allot or maybe even sometimes write about shows we are not to keen on. Either way we get to let theater-goers know all about Broadway.

The bosses always stress two things since we've been in business. And that is to always give "excellent service" and "the best seats at the best prices". With so many companies selling tickets today its really hard to tell the difference with regard to seating in the theater. At Applause, we ask our customers to take a minute or two and give us a call in New York at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930. We feel if theater-goers can get to know us, they will easily learn to "trust" the Applause difference in service.

To show you exactly what I mean, you might want to check out Applause's BFV (BELOW FACE VALUE) ticket deals for Mamma Mia! as well as about 20 other top shows in town. BFV is our way of bringing about giving our customers "the best seats at the best prices". And I do mean "best prices". If you can get a better price from any other ticket agency licensed by New York State (license #71AP1001029), we'll give you $20.00 back on your total ticket purchase. It's up to you friends. You can shop around and then call us and save yourself lots of time and money.

Applause is waiting for your call. Just tell them the Ticket Man sent you. That's me, Rich Gladstone.

Take care now.

Rich The Ticket Man Gladstone

South Pacific at Lincoln Center

Although I wasn't around in 1954 when South Pacific first appeared on Broadway, I can tell you that the first revival of South Pacific was an instant hit from the day it began playing at New York's Vivian Beaumont Theater in Lincoln Center. South Pacific started previews on March 1, 2008 then proceeded to win seven 2008 Tony Awards for excellence in the Broadway Theater. It was our company's biggest ticket seller in 2008 and still sells extremely well.

South Pacific has a wonderful score by the incomparable Rodgers and Hammerstein and was originally adapted from James Michner's famous novel "Tales of the South Pacific".

The current revival (the first one in over 50 years), currently stars Laura Osnes and Paulo Szot. Ms. Osnes was recently scene on Broadway in the popular revival of Grease and Mr. Szot has appeared in several New York City Opera productions. He was the original male lead playing Emile de Becque in this version of South Pacific, left the show for a short while then recently returned. He is a standout performer and Broadway entertainer in my book.

South Pacific tells the unique and interesting story of a U.S. Navy nurse (Ms. Osnes) that falls in love with a local plantation owner on an island in the South Pacific. The costumes, lighting and scenic design alone are worth the price of admission to see South Pacific. Some of the songs included in this amazing score are "Some Enchanted Evening", "Younger Than Springtime", "Nothing Like A Dame", "A Wonderful Guy" and many other memorable songs you'll be singing even after you leave the theater.

It's truly one of my personal favorites and if you want to see an old fashioned show that has all the elements of a great Broadway Show, then you might want to consider calling Applause Theater Service and making an inquiry to obtain tickets to the show.

Applause has been providing the excellent service Broadway theater-goers have come to know for nearly 22 years now. They love to talk about Broadway Shows and especially enjoy sending their customers to nice dining spots before the theater as an extra treat. They know the city very well and enjoy sharing the trade secrets about how to get the best seats for South Pacific as well as any other Broadway Shows you might be keen on seeing.

Remember to ask about their BFV ticket deals. BFV stands for Below Face Value prices which basically offers below cost prices on many shows that don't usually sell all their inventory.

Applause is a New York State licensed ticket agency (license #71AP1001029) and caters to the needs of consumers, travel agents, hotel concierge and corporations that entertain clients and reward employees using theater tickets. They love talking about Broadway Theater so give them a call when you have a few minutes to talk.

Good luck and enjoy South Pacific or the Broadway Show of your choosing.

Sincerely,
Rich Gladstone

Applause Theatre Service:Who We Are

Let's face it. When it comes to buying tickets to a Broadway show there are hundreds of ticket sellers out there. We just happen to be one of them. Now it may surprise you to know that Applause has actually been in business for over twenty-two years. Not too bad for a little company in New York City. Since that time Applause has become a major force in the ticket industry. How did we do that you ask? By providing great customer service and providing our customers with the best tickets at the best prices. Yes I know everybody says that but we really do. Still aren't sure? Why not give us a call and let us prove it. What do you have to lose?

The New Star on Broadway- www.applause-tickets.com

I have been a licenced theater ticket broker my entire career now, just short of 32 years. Although the original business plan my partner Bill and I had was to provide a high level of personal service for visitors to New York City and those that used hotel concierge for their Broadway ticket needs, the business changed dramatically over the years.

After the hotels starting using us, they soon considered us a reliable source for Broadway show tickets. We would even deliver as little as 1 ticket to a hotel a mile away, and for no extra charge. Then came the Travel industry. Travel agencies from all over the world would call us for Broadway show tickets all the time. They also used computer terminals to electronically send us Broadway ticket orders. Then, very well known tour operators that sell hotel packages that include hotel rooms, Broadway show tickets, sightseeing tours and some restaurant meals started using Applause to provide the Broadway theater ticket ingredient of their hotel/theater packages.

Before not too long, Bill and I looked back and we had a solid business. We kept working on developing a reputation for outstanding service. We took our time with shoppers and customers and charged reasonable service fees giving outstanding service and free delivery (still do). The hard work paid off and we grew like crazy over the years.

Then came the Internet and that changed everything almost overnight really. Consumers all over the world started seeing the Applause web site. Several other industry web sites liked the service we provided and linked their web sites to Applause's, then we added the shopping cart that allowed people to see their tickets on a seating chart, view a price and make an on-line order. Amazing when you think of the progress we have all made.

Still we really feel the Internet is a good tool to use to gather information about Broadway. The problem is that now anyone with $125.00 or so can start their own web site and try to sell Broadway tickets too. Still this is not necessarily the way the public wants to purchase their Broadway tickets.

For instance if you "Google" for a Broadway show name, you will see hundreds of "Google answers". How will you know which web site to click on and then you have to search several web sites hoping to find the information you need. This is often a frustrating task indeed.

Thankfully the Applause Theater Service web site has been getting millions of visitors over the years. I must say that I am so glad I have had the chance to keep our company up and current on business practices. I've read lots of business books and they have taught us well. Still every time I pickup the telephone or I hear one of our staff talking to our customers, I feel in my heart that we really are the best at what we do. There is no substitute for great personal customer service, is there?

Of the thousands of companies that sell tickets throughout the world, I'm sure there are many local providers that subscribe to the "Applause way to treat customers handbook". In fact, so many so called ticket agencies say they sell tickets but simply buy tickets from other ticket providers, add on a markup and then resell them to the public. I'm not really sure if this can continue for a long time as in my opinion, there is only so much money that people will pay for tickets, then one of two things will happen. Either they will stop going to live Broadway or other events or they will simply do what lots of shoppers are doing these days. And that is to look around for the "lowest price", giving up on the need for service. Personally, when I shop, I would rather consider paying a little more but getting great personal service.

So for anyone out there that loves Broadway just like we do, and wants the best seats for the best shows at the best prices, I can make you a guarantee today. Our service and our prices cannot be beat.

Simply give a call to Applause Theater Service in New York, the company I co-founded nearly 22 years ago with my friend and partner Bill Stolting. You'll experience service they way your parents and grandparents used to give and receive in their lives. Applause is licensed by the New York State Licensing Division of our home state (license # 71AP1001029) and we are open for business 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We even call forward our phone lines on the weekends so our customers will have service 24/7. How's that for "customer service".

For quite some time now we have been actively promoting our Applause Theater Service BELOW FACE VALUE special on our home page. Consider checking this out friends. We offer the public a way to get the very best seats in most of the Broadway theaters for upwards of nearly 30 Broadway shows. And for prices that are below what anyone can regularly buy them for, even if they were to go directly to the box office. Simply check out the BELOW FACE VALUE special on our web site.

Could you ask for anything more?

If you want to talk Broadway theater, restaurants or anything about New York, feel free to give me a call at 212-307-7050 in New York City or toll free at 800-451-9930. Just ask for the Broadway Ticket Man.

Buy tickets for Waiting for Godot on Broadway at Below Face Value

The Broadway revival of Waiting for Godot has started playing preview performances on April 3, 2009 with an official opening night of April 30, 2009. Waiting for Godot features Broadway's popular leading men Nathan Lane and Bill Irwin in a unique comedy written by Samuel Beckett with direction and scenic design by Anthony Page and Santo Loquasto.

Here's the plot of Waiting for Godot. Two men, Vladimir and Estragon are seen waiting on a stretch of deserted road apparently waiting for someone named Godot. While they wait, the men create a kind of a drama of their own doing. What we witness on stage is a very funny wordplay combining some poetry, dreamscapes and a bunch of other "nonsense", all interwoven and interpreted as a mellow conclusion of man kinds continuous search for meaning.

Right now, Applause Theater Service, a local friendly New York State officially licensed ticket agency representing Waiting for Godot and every Broadway Show as well on Broadway, can get you the best seats for Waiting for Godot at the Studio 54 Theater in New York City. In addition, Applause Theater Service can get you into this comedy at below the regular face value as well. Applause can provide these discounted tickets for a limited time only now through April 29, 2009.

If the show opens to great reviews like many in the industry expect, the access to discount tickets will probably be discontinued. If the reviews are not so great, my guess is that we will have access to discounted tickets for an extended period of time.

The folks at Applause Theater Service love to talk about Waiting for Godot and can advise you about all the other Broadway Shows playing in New York City as well. Have a look at our up-to-date Broadway Show list.

The Applause service is a personal one that can be reached locally in New York at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930. I almost forgot, if you need some great restaurant suggestions you can click here or ask the Applause staff for their favorites. They love theater and love to eat out too.

We hope to hear from you whenever your plans include a visit to Broadway. Thanks for reading our Broadway Ticket News blog.
