In The Heights opens on the Fourth of July on the streets of Washington Heights. As we meet each of the characters, we begin to realize that each of them is an immigrant trying to make a better life for themselves in New York City. The young cast in this show are struggling to redefine themselves in their newly chosen home. They are each trying to define their cultural identity.

As the characters struggle to define their identity, they also struggle with day to day problems. Romances and family dramas abound. You will fall in love with the characters of this beautifully written and performed show. Nina and Benny are forced to fight for their love as Nina’s father disapproves due to his dream of Nina finishing college in California. Usnavi and Vanessa are dating and Usnavi dreams of opening his own bar back at home in the Dominican Republic. They all struggle with things that we have all faced at one point or another.
