The Lion King is a Broadway sensation for good reason. When the show was first created in 1997, people didn’t know what to expect. The show begins at Pride Rock where Rafiki the Baboon has gathered all of the animals in the Pride Lands kingdom. King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi emerge with their newly born son, Simba, and proclaim that he will be the future lion king. Nearly everyone is overjoyed at the news. The only person who isn’t excited is Mufasa’s outcast of a brother, Scar, who had hoped to gain the throne for himself once Mufasa dies. Eventually, Scar kills Mufasa and Simba runs far away from his kingdom.

After some time with a silly meerkat (Timon) and warthog (Pumbaa) in a jungle oasis far from home, Simba’s old friend Nala finds and convinces Simba to return home to fight for his rightful place as king. After a battle of lions vs. hyenas and Simba vs. Scar, Simba and the rest of the lions emerge victorious and Simba rightfully claims his Kingdom.
