BROADWAY - MUSICAL
If your idea of a great night out is great music, a little dancing, and absolute entertainment then Mamma Mia is the Broadway show for you. Mamma Mia is chock full of romance, drama, family, love, and heartbreak. It tells the story of young Sophie who has lived her entire life on the Greek island of Calicos and is preparing to marry her fiancé, Sky. There is only one problem. Sophie wants her father (whom she has never met) to walk her down the aisle at her wedding. Without telling her mother, Donna, about her secret wish, Sophie begins snooping around to try to find some mention of his existence. She finds entries in her mother’s old journal that name three different men that Sophie decides could be her father. She secretly invites all three of them and signs the invitations from her mother. On the eve of the wedding, guests begin to arrive, including the three men that Sophie invited. She can’t wait to find out which of them is her actual father.
Set to the music of ABBA, Mamma Mia is a sparkly whirlwind of fun from the moment it starts till the moment it ends. You’ll find yourself singing along to songs like “Dancing Queen”, “Honey Honey”, and the namesake “Mamma Mia”, all originally performed by ABBA. At the peak of their success, ABBA was one of the most internationally popular music groups of all time. The Swedish pop/dance group wore ridiculous outfits and sang positively addicting songs that no one could seem to get enough of. From 1972-1982, they ruled the charts. In 1997, Catherine Johnson and producer Judy Craymer collaborated to create the Broadway sensation that is showing today.

Notes from James:
Worldwide Sensation Mamma Mia To Close This Fall
It's true theatre fans. Or should I say ABBA fans. Mamma Mia, the show that as of today has been seen by over fifty-four million people and grossed over two billion dollars at the box office will play it's final performance on Broadway on September 12. When it closes it will have played a total of 5,773 performances and will be the eighth longest running show in Broadway history. Not bad for a show that most Broadway insiders thought would never succeed.
