Narrator Lonny sets the stage for the story. It is about a young, aspiring rocker named Drew Bowie who heads to Hollywood with hopes of being the next big thing. He falls in love with a woman who is also trying to make it big in Hollywood. She becomes his biggest cheerleader and inspires him to go after his dream – becoming a rock star. His personal story is highlighted by recent attitude changes towards Rock and Roll and the somewhat grungy Sunset Strip, where both music and Bowie reside in Hollywood. The mayor wants to clean up Hollywood’s image and tear down a lot of the old music clubs in the city.

Drew and Sherri have a tumultuous relationship and he is eventually forced to choose between continuing to follow his original dream of stardom or making a life with the woman he loves. He chooses love and the audience realizes that just because one dream doesn’t come true doesn’t mean that another one can’t be born every day.
