Through the use of award winning puppetry, beautiful costumes, and a minimalist stage setting, Nick Stafford's War Horse Broadway show brilliantly captivates audiences. Don't let the word "puppet" turn you off of this production. We're not talking about just any old puppets. War Horse features two life sized horse puppets – each brought to life by three human puppeteers working in and around the puppet itself. Through their combined movements, the horses come to life. Flanks quiver, hoofs paw the floor, and tails shake – movements so real that you'll forget that you're not watching real horses on the stage. The sculptural quality of the horses themselves is evident and beautiful as the puppeteers bring them to life.

War Horse is about a young British man named Albert who doesn't have much more in life than his horse Joey. When World War One begins to spread across Europe, Joey is sold to an army captain to ride into battle. The show was adapted from a novel by Michael Morpurgo whose use of Joey as the story's narrator was heavily influential on the creative direction of the play. In the stage version of War Horse, the horses are the protagonists as well. Though Albert and his quest to find his beloved horse by enlisting in the army himself is a central part of the story, the real hero is Joey and his other horse friend, Topthorn.

War Horse has been playing on London stages for three years and is about to make its New York City debut at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. Previews begin on March 15, 2011 with the opening night set for April 14. Don't miss your chance to see this incredible production.
